• Adaptation Displacement: Most who have seen this series have never even heard of Gear, which is (allegedly) the show's source material. Ironically, said source material is actually easier to find than the show.
• Badass Decay: The Kraken might suffer this, seeing as how he was able to destroy a large ship in his debut appearance, but by the next, he is begging the cats to let him stay at their mansion, gets easily chained up to a rock by the other krakens on his home planet, and when he tries to fight the three-headed kraken (whom he says bullied him in junior high) he only manages to slap them once. Then they pick him up, punched him in the face repeatedly, and throw him into the sea.
• Crazy Is Cool: Waffle, considering he defeats a bunch of zombies with a laser light show and he defeats a dragon rider by trying to eat his head.
• Cult Classic: Widely regarded as one of the most criminally overlooked Nicktoons.

• Moe:
  • Human Kimberly, especially when playing with Gordon. She's a very cutesy and optimistic eight-year-old who really loves the cats despite their flaws.
  • Waffle also qualifies with his Adorkable antics.
• Squick: Gordon's infatuation with Human Kimberly. They are around the same age^note the wiki says Kimberly is eight years old and Gordon's about 14, but Gordon is clearly middle-aged in cat years. Let's not forget that he's a cat crushing on a human girl.
• Spiritual Successor: This isn't the first feline-themed Nicktoon.
  • It can also be seen as one to Ed, Edd n Eddy, as both shows follow a Comic Trio with similar personalities and misadventures, coupled with Toon Physics.
• Suspiciously Similar Song: There's a background track that's clearly a copyright-friendly version of Gojira's Godzilla theme song. For reference, it's used when the cats were fighting as giant blimps in "King of All Root Beer", complete with Godzilla's stock roar. Kinda fitting, actually.
• The Woobie: For a cheerful guy, Waffle gets hit with Break the Cutie quite a lot. Episodes like "Bringing Down The Mouse", "Zombie Party A Go-Go", "Evil", "Off The Leash" and especially "Two Of A Kind" will make you want to cuddle that poor, adorable cat.
