YMMV / Carry On Again Doctor

  • Esoteric Happy Ending: To avenge Dr. Nookey for his greed, Gladstone decides to ruin his career by switching his formula with a hormone drug to blackmail him. However, it seems that the effects are permanent, because Nookey points out Goldie's facial hair on their wedding day, but could the effects be worse than that?
  • Older Than They Think: According to this movie, the race for women to become slim in order to be seen as attractive was not new in the late 20th century (more commonly, circa the late-1980s). Remember, this movie was released in 1969.
  • Retroactive Recognition:
  • Special Effect Failure: The shot of the cleaner being dragged into the wall by an out-of-control floor polisher was obviously filmed in reverse, seeing as there isn't enough impact on the landing and it's obvious that the floor polisher's cord was used to drag the actor out of shot.
  • Values Dissonance: When Dr. Nookey and Goldie reunite, Dr. Nookey tries to have his way with her and demands that she kisses him. She refuses, and he chases her around the room. Even though he doesn't sexually assault her, this scene is still Played for Laughs. This might be because it was the typical humour on television in mid-20th century Britain, especially in a time when women weren't taken seriously on-screen.
  • Woolseyism: In the Hungarian dub, Dr. Nookey compares the Beatific Islands to Devil's Island.
