YMMV / Carlene Moore

Go To

  • Awesome Ego: She would often stop in the middle of triple threats and fatal 4 ways just to shout that she was the best - because she knew if she got attacked from behind, she would easily get the upper hand again.
  • Badass Decay: By 2004 she was only used in multi-Diva tag matches and rarely got pushed for the title. A Women's Championship Fatal 4 Way elimination match had her as the first elimination! Her final match with the company was the second elimination from a battle royal. It was unfortunate that in her absence, Molly Holly and later Trish Stratus would take her place as the company's top heel, and WWE just didn't seem willing to fit her in anywhere.
  • Ensemble Dark Horse: Despite only about three years in WWE in the early 2000s (and a good portion of them was spent injured), she's an extremely remembered part of what women's wrestling fans call the Golden Era (late 2001-mid 2004) in WWE. Indeed, in The New '10s she received a Career Resurrection on the indies because of nostalgia and growing respect for her in-ring talent. When she announced her retirement, she said it was going to be a tour because so many women had asked her to have a match with them before she hung up the boots.
  • Fetish Retardant: She was forced to compete in the 'Fulfill Your Fantasy' battle royal at the 2004 Taboo Tuesday event - and dress in a 'sexy' school girl outfit. Perhaps in defiance of this, Jazz's entrance saw her ripping the sleeves off.
  • Growing the Beard: Although she produced good matches when she first showed up in WWE, she was presented as a silent but violent type and was injured before the fans could really get to know her (she debuted in November and had to be written off TV in April, having only been champion three months). When she came back in 2003, they let her talk more and she embraced Evil Is Hammy. Combined with Trish's improvement in the ring, this produced a series of very hard hitting and physical matches. At WrestleMania XIX she got very audible boos, showing that she was getting over as a heel.
  • Heartwarming Moments:
    • In an interview with Diva Dirt talking about her WWE career, her voice audibly shakes as she talks about how she couldn't believe after only a few months with the company - she was going into her first WrestleMania as the Women's Champion and retaining, going over the two top Diva stars in Trish and Lita. In a 2020 interview, she also stated that she realised later she was the first African American woman to go into WrestleMania as Women's Champion and leave still with the title too.
    • Trish Stratus's DVD has a segment dedicated to her and Jazz's 2002 feud, where Trish gives Jazz repeated credit for helping her learn and grow in the ring - and how she felt Jazz helped build up the Women's Championship after the Attitude Era had turned it into more of a prop defended in T&A matches. Jazz is interviewed and talks about how excited she was to work with Trish, and how she enjoyed their matches together.
    • The end of her #1 contender's match with Jacqueline to face Trish at the 2002 Royal Rumble. Why? Because Jacqueline was her idol, inspired her to get into wrestling and at the end Jazz claims she whispered "thank you" as she went for the pin.
  • Love to Hate: Many fans who were children in the Ruthless Aggression Era admit to being terrified of Jazz and realising as they grew up just how effective she was as a heel.
  • Narm: Her first theme song in WWE was often mocked for sound like the Super Mario Bros. theme song.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Jazz's run in the WWE wasn't shy on intimidating viewers.
    • One segment had her attack Trish backstage and slam her hand in an equipment case just For the Evulz.
    • Her 2003 return, ambushing Trish after she'd lost a brutal street fight with Victoria. Such No-Holds-Barred Beatdown segments weren't often seen for the Divas - and this one was so intense that had Trish stay off TV for four weeks to sell the brutality of it.
    • Eric Bischoff ordered The Dudley Boyz to attack Trish when she thought she'd be in a mixed tag match just For the Evulz. Then Jazz - whom Trish was facing that Sunday at Backlash - couldn't resist coming out to pick the bones and deliver another beatdown.
  • Rooting for the Empire: She relished in the fact all her dirty tricks and demeaning boasts got cheers or chants of 'EC-dub' at ChickFight V and figuratively had the crowd eating out of hand. Even hometown hero Cheerleader Melissa could only get about half of the crowd on her side against Jazz.
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: They had the chance to rectify their previous screwing of Jazz when she returned with ECW in 2006 - especially since Trish and Lita's departures left the company depleted of women who could actually wrestle. She also had worked with Mickie James numerous times in the past, so there was history that could have been built upon. Instead she sits around barely doing anything until getting unceremoniously released.
