- Badass Decay: His infamous NWA stint. Long gone was the Acrofatic performer he once was. Instead he was now a lumbering, clearly out of shape wrestler well past his prime, who could barely even run the ropes anymore. Those who weren't annoyed by his Creator's Pet status were just sad seeing the shape he was in.
- Creator's Pet: He was the poster boy of this for National Wrestling Alliance due to the fact that Billy Corgan wanted him to headline the company at the expense of the more popular Matt Cardona and longtime former face Nick Aldis, hence why he got booked instantly to the main event scene. Political ideologies aside, his less-than-stellar wrestling skills as a result of competing past his prime, combined with the fact that he won the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship at Hard Times 3, earned the ire of NWA fans. It got so bad that fans rejoiced when he lost the belt to EC3 at NWA 75th Anniversary Show and subsequently retired due to the pre-match stipulation stating that he had to retire if he lost the match.
