• Awesome Music: The American themes are pretty catchy (even if the Rafferty theme was stock music), as was the classic British theme from Ed Welch.
• Complacent Gaming Syndrome: On the original runs of the UK version, most contestants went for the throat as soon as possible, rather than go for extra money. However, one contestant did go for extra spaces in Bob Holness' run... and was promptly told by the producer not to do it again at the commercial break. In the most recent version, Dara Ó Briain actually encourages players to go for extra money... although the increased values and the one-and-done nature of his version may have something to do with that.
• First Installment Wins:
  • When people talk about the British version, most refer to the original Bob Holness version. This is somewhat realised in the latter revivals, with the 2000 revival replacing the 1997 purple colour scheme back to the more familiar blue scheme and restoring the original theme song (albeit rearranged) that was also discarded in 1997. The 2012 revival takes it one step further by reviving the original game board.
  • Also present when referring to the American version, with viewers being more familiar with Bill Cullen's 1980-82 run than Bill Rafferty's 1987 outing.
• Germans Love David Hasselhoff: The British version far outlasted the American ones.
  • The British version was also very popular in Dubai's English-speaking expats, to the point where shops and offices would close early so everyone could watch it.
• Memetic Mutation: On the British version, contestants asking Bob if they can have a P.
• Retroactive Recognition: Stephen Merchant appeared on the UK version back in 1997.
• Suspiciously Similar Song: The classic Ed Welch theme was not used for the Michael Aspel version, apparently due to rights issues; a sound-alike was used instead.
• Visual Effects of Awesome: The British "cityscape" intro, with scenery and effects rivaling that of a science-fiction show.
