- Awesome Music: The movie's soundtrack, which helps greatly that most of the music is original work for once.
- Signature Song: “Things Out There”, the first song, is regarded as the best the film has to offer due to its nature as a diegetic musical performance giving the film an excuse to do a Disney Acid Sequence, resulting in lots of spooky imagery worthy of a horror-themed movie.
- So Okay, It's Average: Generally seen as inoffensive, but it’s not as remembered or beloved as its follow-up/sister title.
- Special Effect Failure: Early on when Alvin hijacks the tour tram, the frame rate drops quite a bit and the characters fleeing him move much more slowly and awkwardly.
- Sweetness Aversion: The final song before the climax is about the Chipmunks teaching the monster how to be a good friend, and it involves a lot of overly wholesome moments. While it works at first, it eventually becomes too saccharine especially with the corny lyrics.
- They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: Dr. Frankenstein himself is not terribly menacing or funny, and isn’t focused on enough to make him a credible antagonist.
