YMMV / Aliens: Phalanx

  • Genius Bonus: It might seem odd that bronze weapons are viable at all against Xenomorphs, considering how durable some media depicts them. This could be chalked up to Depending on the Writer, as the Xenomorphs have ranged from incredibly tough (Alien: The Roleplaying Game) to extremely fragile (most Alien vs. Predator media). However, bronze is a lot tougher than many people think, able to be hardened to a degree surpassing most forms of iron. This video shows a well-made bronze sword succeeding at the "Samurai challenge" of cutting through a steel sheet in one swing. If the Ataeginans figured out how to make quality bronze weapons, they could very well indeed punch through Xenomorph armor; the problem is how little wounds tend to bother them and dealing with their acid blood. Exploiting the properties of caminus leaves to neutralize the acid blood solves both problems, and are major plot points in the novel and turning points in Ataegina's fight against the demons.
