  • Arc Fatigue: See Doorstopper on the main page. While the story switches to a slice-of-life format after Chapter 20 and many reviewers enjoyed the worldbuilding, some readers think that said slice-of-life elements are starting to drag on and wish that it focused more on the plot instead. It doesn't help that the fic originally started in 2015 and is currently on the third story arc out of a planned fifteen arcs. The Gates of Warfang arc is especially guilty of this since its practically an overly long fight scene lasting tens of thousands of words.
  • Base-Breaking Character: Joshua Renalia. He's either a good deconstruction of a teenage human trapped in a different world and acts his age, or he's a completely unlikable brat who barely does anything other than whine and curse at people, some even accusing him of being a Gary Stu for various reasons. Rarely is there an in-between.
  • Broken Base: The decision to break the story up into mostly non-linear plot threads come Chapter 20, with flashbacks, timeskips, and jump forwards. Some think that it's a good way to mix the slice-of-life elements with the serious elements while others feel like it just breaks the tone and has resulted in quite a few jarring cases of Mood Whiplash.
  • Ron the Death Eater: Some readers feel that Spyro gets hit with this treatment, as seen on the main page. While the story tries to explain this with Spyro getting a Vagueness Is Coming reaction in regards to Joshua and implying that he has PTSD in an author's note, some readers think that isn't enough to justify how OOC he is. Not helping matters is the fact that a canon oneshot, Chasing Leads, shows that he's still going to act like an asshole to Joshua for years, albeit while not being as bloodhungry by then.
