What An Idiot / Dragon Ball Multiverse

Go To

Dragon Ball Multiverse features a lot of different timelines. Some of the people in those timelines are not as intelligent as others.

  • The Vargas who decided not to bother sending Broly back to his universe after the Broly vs. Vegetto fight. Dumbass Has a Point: As far as they knew Broly wasn't a threat anymore and in the long run it would be safer to leave him in the lifeless universe the tournament is taking place in rather than send him back to his populated home one.
  • Better question, who thought it was a good idea to put Broly in the tournament? As one of the Namekians pointed out, he's a maniac and Vegetto even states Broly would attack the audience and be disqualified. So there was no point of having Broly fight since it would only end in needless deaths. It's about as reckless as inviting Kid Buu. Even better, why did they bring a person in an ice cube that they weren't even sure was still alive?
  • Yes, Freeza, go ahead and try to kill the loyal soldier who has the ability to change body's while leaving the task of actually making sure he's dead to some random unidentifiable mook. This can in no way go wrong. Just ask your dad..... oh.
  • Freeza from U3 is also an idiot. He saw a bunch of Great Apes heading for his ship, the worst case scenario being a Saiyan Rebellion. How does he respond? Going out himself and taking care of the problem since even a lower class Saiyan gets a massive boost from the Great Ape form? No, he sits in his chair and sends his low class grunts to fight them and then acts surprised when almost all of them get killed in minutes. By the time he finally decides to do anything, he has dozens of Great Apes firing blasts at him.
  • The Grand Supreme Kai being willing to let U4 Buu compete after his rampage was a relief to fans who felt it was too soon for him to exit the story, but the fact is that he allowed him to still compete is still foolish. While it is true they have him contained at the moment, the fact of the manner is that since he learned how to overcome the Vargas' technology and manipulate it, it means he is resourceful enough that overcoming the technique used to contain him is not out the realms of possibilities. U16 Gohan already told the Kais everything about him, meaning that the Grand Supreme Kai already knows just how dangerous he can be. However, as of Chapter 42, East Supreme Kai seems to think that he is actually being controlled by him.
    • The truth seems to be more like they both want to enjoy good fights with everyone at their best, and it looks more like they are cooperating rather than U4 Buu manipulating him outright, what with Buu giving interesting power-ups left and right, and going with the charade of the Grand Supreme Kai "using" the technique to ball him up again, and even poking fun at Buu in his thoughts in a playful manner.
  • Bra vs Cold starts out with Cold manipulating Bra's ego so that she wouldn't be able to go Super Saiyan in their fight. While this is clearly not an intelligent move on her end, it can be forgiven due to the fact that, even in her base form she was still stronger than Cold by a decent margin at least until he used his 6th form, what's not as forgivable is that when Cold proved to be more powerful, she still held back by not using her other Game-Breaker abilities until she was beaten to a point where she couldn't even stand and had to use senzus to continue fighting, nearly causing her death and U19 having one less fighter that's willing to use a wish on them. To make it worse, she's cocky like she planned to let Cold beat her from within an inch of her life.
    • Not exactly, since they made a bet before the match. So, if she transforms she will be disqualified. Still a stupid move on her part though.
  • Universe 8 Gohan is commonly seen this way after it didn't even occur to him to use the dragon radar to search Frieza's ship, frantically checking every room instead.
  • Ginyu's loss to Vegito. Now granted, there's not a lot of ways to win against Vegito, but using his "Change!" technique on him was hopeless and more or less guaranteed to fail. This is particularly the case since the fight began with Ginyu firing a mouth-beam and Vegito using Instantaneous Movement to teleport them both before he fires it. He's just doing the exact same thing that didn't work once, but with higher stakes.
    • Had Ginyu used the Change ability before the 30-second timer was up, he could’ve claimed the move occurred during a match and consequently was legal. Vegito would then have no right to reverse it or attack Ginyu. Ginyu also could’ve made any number of deals to negotiate his way out of the situation, but instead tried to fight his way out.
    • Vegito could’ve immediately disqualified his entire team and lost his daughter when he attacked Frieza and Cooler, two people who were perfectly willing to work with him.
  • Raichi during his fight with Gast after seemingly incapacitating him, decides to have his Vegeta ghost stay halfway across the arena while not bothering to summon other ghosts as emergency bodyguards in case Gast sneak attacks him. You have three guesses on what happens, and the first two don't count.
  • All the remaining fighters have been assembled against Majin Bra, who is the most powerful minion of Babidi by a wide margin and outclasses each of the fighters individually.
You'd Expect: All the fighters take advantage of their numbers to attack Bra. For both Gohans, they'd exploit the fact that they are both alternate counterparts of each other and as such are able to communicate with each other in battle without the need to converse with each other; this Fearful Symmetry was useful against Majin Cell earlier. Fighters like both Piccolos who are nowhere near as strong as the rest will instead provide range support to distract Bra so the hand-to-hand combatants would stand better chance which they did earlier.
Instead: None of that was taken advantage of. Each fighter instead decides to take on Bra one-on-one while the others just wait on the sidelines.
The Result: They didn't stand a chance. Every fighter, with the exception of Majin Buu and U18 Gohan, ends killed by Bra.
Even Worse: This was even lampshaded when U16 Gohan tells the U19 warriors that this was the only strategy they could think of; they just rely on their strongest fighter to take on the threat and jump in only when they're taken out. The U19 are understandably baffled by this unsound strategy. And yet they still stick to the plan with predictably disastrous results.
  • U18 Piccolo gives one of the mini-Cell Jrs. a senzu bean to give to the incapacitated Cell, as he is their biggest hope in defeating Bra. This comes at the cost of Piccolo's life as Bra kills him.
You'd Expect: That U18 Gohan or Buu would try and take on Bra and distract her while the Jr. gives Cell the senzu bean.
Instead: They just watch in shock as they see Piccolo get blown to pieces.
The Result: Just as the Jr. was about to give Cell the bean, Bra teleports to them and blows both the Jr. and Cell into smithereens, adding another body to the pile and depriving the heroes of their strongest fighter left and leaves Piccolo's death a Senseless Sacrifice.
  • It's revealed that in the past, U16 Bra ended up destroying a solar as a result of unlocking Super Saiyan 2, killing everyone there at the time, Goten included. When she comes to, Vegito confronts her about this, to which she's surprisingly nonchalant about all the death that occured.
You'd Expect: That if Vegito is willing to kill Bra before she becomes too powerful to keep the Universe safe, he would just do it right then and there.
Or At Least: Try and get her to understand what was wrong with what she did, since using the Dragon Balls as a Reset Button has clearly affected her regard for life.
Instead: He threatens to kill her without getting her to properly understand the weight of her actions.
As A Result: Her psychotic tendencies are left to fester, which culminates in her becoming Majin Bra and causing massive casualties.
  • In the novelization, the U10 Saiyans attempt to claim the Vargas' ship for themselves, by killing both the Vargas and Namekians from U1 who are taking them home, and the Namekians from U10 who are heading back to their own planet.
You'd Expect: Since the Namekian participants from U10 have shown to be quite strong, Vegeta would understand that it's best to avoid fighting them. Let the Vargas drop the Namekians on planet Namek, so that when the Vargas' ship heads to planet Vegeta, there's nobody to help them. And, if things somehow turn wrong, there's the possibility to call reinforcements from planet Vegeta.
Instead: Vegeta choses to attack when the ship is still on planet Namek, believing that by destroying the shuttle loaded with the U10 Namekians, they will be able to get rid of them.
As A Result: U10 Nail and U10 Cargot both survive the shuttle explosion, and they're so strong compared to the U10 Saiyans that they are able to counter-attack and defeat the Saiyans. What's more, since they're on planet Namek, they're able to get help from the other Namekians. All Vargas and Namekians are revived, while the Saiyans end up with only a lot of casualties on their side.
