So What? I'm Still a Monster
is a Light Novel about different groups of monsters and their struggles in their daily lives. The stories range from the highest royalty in the monster world to newly changed vampire living on the streets.
The novel is separated by 5 stories-
- Apartment-This set of stories follows the monsters that live in Magic Grove Apartments in Tennessee. Mostly a group of varying monster teenagers or the Landlords, but occasionally there are stories of the other residents.
- Royals- These stories follow the lives of the Royals of the monster world, from the top rank of Vampires, Wizards, Fairies, and Kitsunes to the lowest of Werewolves and Genines.
- Life and Death- This set follows Life and Death, siblings Seraphim and Teraphim, along with their assistants, a Chinese girl named Faith and a Japanese boy named Therine.
- Vampires-These stories follow the lives of 4 vampires, from the royal Damien to the newly turned John.
- Phoenixes-The last set of stories that tell of the lives of the highest Royal family, the Battilus family. From the rule of the grandmother Annalise to the twins a hundred years in the future.
So What? I'm Still a Monster provides examples of the following tropes:
- Accidental Adultery: Nick dates someone else when he doesn't have his memories. He freaks out when he gets them back, only to find Ivan doesn't hold it against him.
- Anchored Ship: Maria and Jason's ship is canon then sunk then came back to life and is now anchored.
- Attractiveness Isolation: Jackson with Veta, the mary sue.
- Backstory: Everybody has one.
- Beautiful Dreamer: Every couple. All of them.
- Break the Cutie: Maria after she gets bitten.
- John after he gets bitten.
- Cherry Blossoms: Often used with Daichi
- Chekhov's Skill: Rose mentioned that arguing fixes everything near the beginning but was quickly shot down by Michelle and Destiny. Guess what gets Maria out of the emo corner at the end?
- Childhood Friend Romance: Nick and Ivan
- Comforting Comforter: Every couple at least once.
- Non-romantic version- Michelle doing it for Rose in the 1930's
- Commitment Issues: Therine
- Corner of Woe: Maria for most of the first chapter.
- Crush Blush: Maria to Jason
- Nick to Ivan
- Dimitri to Zakar
- Zephyr to Damien
- Cry into Chest: Luka against Annalise
- Tera against Sera

- Dark and Troubled Past: It's assumed that all the cast has one type or another.
- Dark Is Not Evil: Most demons arent evil, just doing their job... even if they are horribly sarcastic.
- Aaron isn't evil, he is just a special snowflake.
- Female Angel, Male Demon: Chavvy the Head Angel and Dominic the Head Elemental Demon.
- Savina the Fallen Angel and the demon Michelle usually count.
- Friendly Rivals: Rose and Maria. They're always fighting but they are still best friends with each other and Michelle and Destiny.
- Dimitri and Daichi. Sometimes they become Friendly Enemies.
- Headbutting Heroes: The Royals can never get along.
- The teenagers are like this sometimes.
- Immortal Immaturity: most monsters have this. And/Or insanity.
