Go To

Rechargeable is a Web Comic by Bilvy Jane.

The story revolves around a crew of queer criminals, known as The Immortals, working in the black market in the year 2100, operating in the fictional city of New Portland, Australia.

"Rechargeable" contains examples of:

  • Action Girl: Both Century and Washington are fully capable of kicking ass.
  • All There in the Manual: Played with. The characters' specific romantic/sexual orientations and preferred pronouns are detailed in the cast page, but most of them have already stated their orientations in canon (in the case of pronouns, it is common courtesy in the year 2100 to introduce oneself with their pronouns, meaning the reader can know them early on to avoid confusion later).
  • Cast Full of Gay: Well, the comic does revolve specifically around a group of queer criminals.
  • Cyberpunk: The comic is set in a futuristic setting where cybernetic implants and the like are very common (and illegal), as well as an enhancement in everyday technological devices. Not to memtion the fact that the characters definitely have a sort of punk aesthetic going on.
  • Cannon Fodder : Mozzie's crew members aren't given names and their corpses are later seen in Tinman's van.
  • Evil Redhead: Century, though not so much evil as morally ambiguous.
  • Legitimate Businessmans Social Club: The bar they usually use as a front/base of operations.
  • Neon Sign Hideout: Palette's club, The Amazon, is a literal version of this.
  • Nightmare Face: Fieldmouse's CHIPs allow xem to make their face look like anything and everything.
  • Noodle Incident: Heard in Sandman's conversation with Palette on the latter's balcony. We have no idea who Needles is or what Palette said to set her off.
  • Only One Name: All the characters go by nicknames that consist of only one word. Their birth names have not been mentioned in canon.
  • Shout-Out: The creator of the comic has mentioned its influences many times on the comic's community Tumblr, including The Killjoys comic series, and the Fake AH Crew. Some of the characters' names are shout outs to particular influences, in particular, My Chemical Romance's 'Danger Days' album.
  • Tattooed Crook:
    • Daddy and Sandman have tattooes and are part of a criminal gang.
    • Washington can be considered this, although her tattoos appear to be painted onto the cybernetic implants on her arms.
  • Villain Protagonist: The protagonists are all part of a gang that deals in illegal (and very strong) liquor, and drugs.
