Majin Knight is a comedic Pixel Art Comic, fashioned in the style of a Sprite Comic. Created by one Black INK.I.M, it follows the peregrination of both the eponymous Majin Knight and his fellow Video Game characters, first seen having an existential crisis over their monotonous life.

Soon though, they met two scientist, the Doctors Wrong and Left, who, after accidentally crashing into their world, take them to the city of Hub Town, where they'll try to make a new life for themselves.

While the comics sticks to a gag-based structure, with the final panel of every chapter always ending in a punchline of some sort, most chapters furthers the plotline in some fashion, and the story has to be read starting from the beginning to fully understand what's going on.

At the time of this writting, the first season was entirelly traduced in English, while the second season is still going on in French.

Provides examples of:

  • Accidental Misnaming: Dr.Wrong has a tendency to call Dr.Left "Dr.Reft".
  • Breather Episode: The two bonus episodes following the very long and very heavy Chapter 18. One follows an untill then only mentionned Walking Cheese, the other an attempt from Camelia to sit on a bed
  • Captain Ersatz: Many characters, Majin Knight, on top of looking a lot like Shovel Knight, also has sprites based on Megaman, Princess Camelia is Princess Peach, and the Doctor Wrong and Left are pretty clearly supposed to be Dr.Wily and a Met.
  • Contemplate Our Navels: A lot.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: War Locke is a wizard in a black cloak, a sinister Crow mask, capable of conjuring dark magics and fireballs, ruling over an army of goblins and skeletons. He's also a sweet, gentle guy who enjoys playing Go Fish.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Dr. Left, although Camelia has her moments too
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": Majin Knight is only known as "Majin Knight", season 2 confirm that either he doesn't have a name, or "Majin Knight" is, indeed his actual name. Regardless, he's now registered at Hub Town as "First Name: Majin, Last Name: Knight".
  • Evil Tower of Ominousness: War Locke's tower. Even more so in the fullpage version
  • Evolving Title Screen: The "Title screen" portion that serves as the first panel of every chapters changes depending of the location of the main cast.
  • Fireballs: War Locke's weapon of choice during his fight with Majin Knight
  • The Goomba: War Locke's minnions. Dr. Left was one back in his own game too.
  • Green Hill Zone: The first background, of what we're led to believe is the first stage of Majin Knight's "game".
  • Heroes Prefer Swords: Majin Knight is the hero of his game, and he wield a sword and a shield, although he quickly drops them behind him. And considering his world is now gone, he'll probably never use one ever again
  • Platform Game: The main cast lives in one.
  • Neutral Female: Since Camelia wasn't meant to do anything, besides looking pretty at the end of the game "a la" Princess Peach from SMB., she doesn't actually have any animation besides "Standing up", as such, she can't even walk anywhere without having someone carrying her.
  • Save the Princess: Supposedly, what the Majin Knight game was all about.
  • Shout-Out: During the glitchy title screen of Chapter 7, instead of being credited to "Black INK.I.M", the chapter/game is now credited to Dan Miller
