Gotequest
is a webcomic about fantasy creatures living in a vaguely-modern world, going through struggles such as dealing with homophobia, handling toxic friends, and defeating enemy stands.
Yup, you heard that right.
Created by BarrierTrio in September 2020, Gotequest is an original story using the power system and concepts of Jojo's Bizzare Adventure. The story starts Archy Anatol, his boyfriend Lidan Melbrooke, and their friends Ester Texieria-Serra and Moiner Moffet, as an arrow stolen from the TYUMI Corporation by Chiven Vayuki and stolen from her by her boyfriend/hated enemy Dzvalin Rendhaa starts a chain of events that leads to the four of them obtaining stands and being drawn into a plot that reaches far into the past and looms threateningly into the future.
Tropes:
- Aerith and Bob: The modern fantasy setting means that characters named Dzvalin and Lidan coexist alongside names such as Sam and Jesse.
- Expy: Although she doesn't have much presence in the story at current,
Word of God suggests Chiven is lifted from Homestuck's Vriska Serket. - Fantasy Kitchen Sink: Characters include Satyrs, Trolls, Demons, Centaurs, Harpies, and that's not even getting into the stands!
- Heteronormative Crusader: Local priest Tabitha Eckleburg's tenure as Stand User Of The Week revolves around her trying to get Lidan to repent from his supposed sin of homosexuality.
