Tropes found in EE Comic strips:
- Speed Stripes: There are lines which show movement throughout the comic.
Tropes found in "Scape from Zombie":
- Big Ball of Violence: Several castle guards battle with some zombies, creating a large grey cloud. The guards come out as zombies as well. After they all get cured, an angry smiley attacks Idj63, the first of the former zombies, creating a smaller grey cloud.
- Failed a Spot Check: At a birthday party, Vanyswa6 fails to realize everybody else is fleeing from the approaching zombies.
- For the Evulz: The Zombie Apocalypse is started by Onderson370's trap, seemingly for their own amusement as they giggle afterwards.
- Zombie Apocalypse: A zombie invasion starts with one zombie, who infects another zombie, until there's a large group of zombies.
Tropes found in "Boss to Code":
- Combat Compliment: The boss compliments its pro player as being fast.
- Noob: The character labelled "NOOB" falls off the platform while attempting a simple movement.
- Reality Warper: The hacker is able to remove flight from the boss, float in the air, and place random blocks all over the place.
- Rule of Three: The comic shows three different smileys, and their approach to the boss level. The third of these destroys the boss level altogether.
Tropes found in "The House":
- Inexplicable Treasure Chests: A treasure chest falls from the sky for no apparent reason. The chest contains materials to build a house.
- The Key Is Behind the Lock: The house's builder keeps a key in the house, but locks themselves out of the house as the door closes behind them.
Tropes found in "The Door Coin":
- Here We Go Again!: The story ends the same way it starts—with a smiley coming across a gauntlet of platforms, saying the exact same statement assuming that it's easy.
Tropes found in "The Hole.":
- Art Evolution: Unlike the previous comics, the smileys here have moving facial features and occasional hands.
- Catching Some Z's: When the smileys sleep, a trail of Z's come from them.
- Floating Limbs: The smileys have disconnected round hands when they need to use them.
- Sudden Anatomy: The smileys' hands only appear when they are using them.
