Warning: Unmarked Undertale spoilers below!

Ask Chara and Friends is a fan-made Undertale webcomic created by Miamouse and based on The Good Trash Kingdom's wildly popular Ask Frisk and Company.

It takes place after a True Pacifist ending in the Underswap-world, a version of Undertale in which a lot of characters are "swapped" with each other. Chara is now the protagonist instead of Frisk and opens the blog in-universe as a social experiment to gauge humans' opinions on monsterkind.

Miamouse is also working on an official dub for the comic on her youtube channel, which can be found here.

Ask Chara and Friends provides examples of:

  • Almost Kiss: Averted. After Asriel succesfully confesses to Chara, an asker tries to encourage them to kiss. Chara shuts that down by telling Asriel that both of them are still kids and they don't have to rush stuff like that if they don't want to.
  • Alternate Universe: The blog takes place in a universe in which several of the main characters were switched around, leading to their places in the stories being swapped as well. The most prominent examples are Chara and Frisk, Asriel and Monster Kid, as well as Sans and Papyrus.
    • Mirror Universe: Downplayed, since most alignments stay pretty much the same, even with the roles switched. Chara, who was the main antagonist for a large part of AFAC is the main protagonist in this story, while Frisk takes their former role as the main antagonist.
  • Armor-Piercing Response: Sans' rather cold answer to Hermann lamenting his bad manners.
Hermann: i did not raise you to be like this!
  • Berserk Button: Do not compare white chocolate with "real" chocolate! Chara will give you a long-winded lecture about how they're obviously not even close and how white chocolate is infinitely inferior.
  • Call-Back: When going over the characters with the askers, Chara introduces themselves with the words "It's me, Chara."
  • Child Mage: Falling through the barrier overloaded Chara's soul and caused it to "open", which turned them into a wizard. Unlike AFAC-Frisk, who went through the same process but only found out about it much later by accident, Chara is already aware of their magic and regularly practices it.
  • Clap Your Hands If You Believe: It's implied that the encouragement of the askers can literally empower the characters. Papyrus manages to "yeet" Hermann out of the void after the askers cheer him on when previously every one of his attempts to do so failed. Papyrus even comments that it feels like the askers are actually giving him energy. Miamouse confirmed that asker-power basically works the same as it does in AFAC.
  • Cool Shades: Chara wears a pair of sunglasses on occasion, to make themselves look even cooler.
  • Family of Choice: Chara sees their monster friends as their real family. So far, it hasn't been mentioned whether or not their biological parents are alive in this world or if they're Abusive Parents like was the case with AFAC-Frisk.
  • Happily Adopted: Chara was taken in by Asgore after the barrier fell and they seem pretty satisfied with the arrangement.
  • Large Ham: Chara is a lot more prone to theatrics than Frisk.
Chara: (in response to a jokingly fearful ask) ThAt's riGht! FeAR mE!! I'm PuRE unFilterED tErROr!
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Asgore and Toriel have no idea that Tem the doll used to be their child Monster Kid. Chara forbids the askers from telling them.
  • Missing Mom: Hermann has been trapped between dimensions since the skeleton brothers' childhood and every attempt Papyrus made to bring her back ended in failure. He finally succeeds at the beginning of the story, thanks to the askers telling him her exact location and (it's implied) boosting his magic through their support.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Papyrus manages to yank Hermann out of the void with blue magic, but in the process allows Frisk, who unknown to everyone was with her, to cross over into the real world as well.
  • "No. Just… No" Reaction: Chara reacts to an asker attempting to flirt with them by simply giving a Thousand-Yard Stare and following it up with a Little "No".
  • Pint-Sized Powerhouse: Alphys is a lot smaller than most of the cast, but strong enough to lift her girlfriend Undyne over her head with little difficulty.
  • Power Glows: Chara's eyes shine red whenever they use their magic.
  • Shipper on Deck: Chara is very enthusiastic about Undyne's and Alphys' relationship. They also end their introduction of Asgore by telling the askers that he's single with a wink-emoji.
  • Trademark Favorite Food:
    • As per usual, Chara's favorite sweet is chocolate. Dark chocolate, to be precise.
    • Papyrus regularly chomps down on light-blue lollipops.
  • Unrelated in the Adaptation: Asriel still exists in this universe, but he's not a Dreemurr. Chara lampshades this in their introduction of him, stating that although he might look a lot like Toriel and Asgore he isn't related to them.
