Violette1st is a YouTube channel that is owned by the mother named Violette (her real name being Kerry Sell) that joined on May 1, 2010. Their videos usually center around Violette and her son William who is a Jerkass, her husband Bill who is a douche, her daughter Lucy who is extremely self-centered, and her nephew Andy who is mischevious, as they are a messed up family and they usually rage and fight over stupid things such as Xbox, or food, etc. The channel could be compared to McJuggerNuggets, The Angry Grandpa, and The Greatest Freakout Ever due to its videos of raging and destruction of property.

In late 2018, after they uploaded "KID PICKAXES FORTNITE MONOPOLY BOARD GAME!!!" on December 25th, 2018, they took a 3-year long hiatus, which made people wonder if they quit YouTube, however they eventually returned in 2021 with their newest upload; "UNGRATEFUL KID DESTROYS XBOX DAD BOUGHT HIM FOR CHRISTMAS!!!".

The channel provides examples of:

• The Alcoholic: Bill drinks beer on occasions and gets drunk and passes out.
• Abusive Parents: Bill is shown to be rude, selfish, greedy, and downright insulting towards William. He's almost never shown to be abusive to Lucy as he favors her the most and could be the reason Lucy's a Big Sister Bully towards William.
  • Exaggerated in "DAD BECOMES ADDICTED TO FORTNITE!"; Not only did Bill force William to walk a mile home, but he also plays Fortnite on William's Xbox and doesn't let him in.
• Adults Are Useless: Violette and Bill. Most of the videos end up with William destroying whatever object he comes across because Violette keeps filming the situation rather than putting the camera down and resolving it and Bill doesn't even try to be a good father and teach William from right and wrong and is verbally abusive to him.
• Anti-Hero: William is shown to be an extremely rude, sarcastic, angry, and selfish kid who plays on his Xbox too much and never intends to spend time with his family, though he can be nice at times.
• Anti-Role Model: Pretty much the whole family (yes, even Violette to an extent), are this and are selfish, immature, unpleasant, and just downright awful and behave the opposite of how you're supposed to act.
  • William stands out the most, given his selfish, immature, rude, disrespectful, and destructive personality, he's perfectly good at acting the complete opposite of good behavior.
• Ax-Crazy: William will resort to doing this when he grabs an ax and destroys whatever object he comes across.
  • Even Andy was this when he smashed William's Xbox with an ax.
• Archnemesis Dad: Bill is definitely this to his son William.
• Arc Villain: Bill, William, Andy, and Lucy have been the main antagonist in many videos.
• Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: At times, despite their arguments, the family are shown to love each other outside the videos, mostly showing in the fanmail videos.
• Berserk Button: One way to set William off is either taking his Xbox away, turning off the internet, or otherwise, pranking him and it will usually result in him destroying an object by either smashing it or burning it.
  • Don’t tell Andy that his Christmas hat is stupid.
  • Don't call Violette "Annie Oakley".
• Beware the Nice Ones: Violette has her limits when she gets abused enough and she bites back.
• Big Bad: It depends on the video, but it often switches between William and Bill.
  • Lucy, or Andy have taken this role a lot too.
• Big "SHUT UP!": William has a habit of saying this to his family, mostly his mother and father.
  • Andy delivered a big one to William in "WILLIAM RUINS THE COOKOUT!" when William ruined Andy's cookout for Bill selfishly eating his hot dog.
  Andy: JUST SHUT THE HELL UP!!!
• Big Sister Bully: Lucy is constantly bothering William and touching his stuff when she feels like it, is jealous of him, acts rude to him and strives to make her brother's life a living hell.
• Bullying a Dragon: Lucy has a tendency to do this to William and when she kicks the bucket, all hell breaks loose when William flips out.
• Bumbling Dad: Bill is definitely this in spades.
  • A Gender-Inverted Trope for Violette since she is shown to be a terrible parent and never raises William properly.
• Butt-Monkey: William is shown to be pranked by Andy, harassed by Lucy, or otherwise pranked by Bill and Violette. Bill is shown to be more of a victim of this than William as he gets into most sticky situations.
• Catchphrase:

  • Bill: Freaking jerk!, Shut up jerk!, Freaking dingbat!
  • Violette: Well hello, YouTube!, Stop it!, WIIILIAAAAM!!!!!, This is ridiculous!

• Childish Older Sibling: Lucy is older than William, but is just as childish as he is and for good reasons.
• Darker and Edgier: William burning his dad's car is notably darker than the other things he's done.
• Deadpan Snarker: Violette, Bill, William, Andy, and Lucy more often than not bring up sarcastic remarks about each other.
• Disproportionate Retribution: William, Bill and Lucy are more often than not prone to do this.
  • Lucy has even once hit Violette on the head with a shoe box case in "SISTER RUINS YOUTUBERS LIVE STREAM!!!"
• Dysfunctional Family: William has severe anger issues with a huge Lack of Empathy, Violette is a Motor Mouth who always records freak outs rather than step in and resolve them, Bill is a Fat Bastard who abuses his son, Lucy is a selfish and annoying brat of a sister to William and has little to no regard for his feelings, and Andy is also as mean as Bill on occasions.
• Expy: The series has been known to act similar to McJuggerNuggets as it contains property destruction and psychotic behavior.
  • William could be similar to Jesse as both are immature and selfish and play video games and get angry easily.
  • Violette is similar to Terry as both are not seen destroying something and are the "voices of reason".
  • Bill is similar to Jeff Sr., (only a fat version of him) as both are abusive fathers towards their sons and show little to no respect for them.
  • Lucy and Andy could be similar to Jeffrey Jr. as all three are pranksters and enjoy harassing their enemies (Lucy and Andy to William and Jeffrey to Jesse).
• Fat Bastard: Bill is shown to be overweight and a complete asshole to his son William.
• Flanderization:
  • William gets more short-tempered and rude as the series goes on.
  • Violette talks even more than she did in the earliest videos.
  • Bill became more abusive towards William, (even towards his wife Violette) than before.
  • Lucy became more self-centered in later videos.
  • Andy became more mischevious than he was earlier.
• Flipping the Bird: Lucy does this on occasion towards William, and even Violette.
  • William does one to Lucy and later two more times in "KID RUINS SISTERS BIRTHDAY PARTY!!!".
  • William and Lucy do this to each other when Lucy drops William's Xbox One in the ocean as revenge for ruining her birthday in "LUCY THROWS WILLIAM'S XBOX IN A RIVER!!!".
• Flipping the Table: William flips the table when he finds out he didn't get any presents for his birthday.
• Hair-Trigger Temper: William is the most short-tempered in the family as he gets mad for many reasons, even if it's small.
• Hey, You!: Bill almost never refers to William by his real name, but rather "Jerk" or "Dingbat".
  William: Where are we going?
  Bill: It's not far, Jerk, shut up!
• Hypocrite: Bill constantly complains about William being selfish and not spending time with his family when he belittles him and doesn't share anything with him.
  • Bill even constantly calls William a "jerk" when he's shown to act like a jerk himself.
  • Lucy was shown as one in "WILLIAM GETS HIS GTA5 DISK BURNED BY LUCY", where she tells off William for being disrespectful and selfish and treating his family with little-to-no respect when she's shown to be selfish herself and doesn't even notice how she's making the situation worse by pestering him and burning his GTA V disk to a chair.
  • Violette scolds anyone in her family for cussing, yet she was shown cussing in videos like "MOM GOES PSYCHO AND THROWS CLOTHES OFF ROOF!!!", "KID CUTS HIS FINGER OFF WITH CHAINSAW!!!", "EXTREMELY HOT PEPPER PRANK ON WILLIAM!!! (Habanero)", and "WILLIAM SAID THE F WORD!!!".
• It's All About Me:
  • William is extremely self-absorbed and believes he should he should get what he want without care for anything else and thinks his problems are bigger than everyone else's.
  • Lucy is extremely selfish and thinks that she's the most famous character on the channel and mostly thinks about herself more than her family, sometimes her son Zachary.
  • Bill is shown to have spades of this too, as he buys food only for him and almost never even thinks about sharing with the family and thinks that he's in charge of everything.
• Jerkass:
  • William is constantly rude and disrespectful to his family, mostly to his own mother, constantly orders them around and is never appreciative to them.
  • Bill could be one too as he belittles William, constantly calls him a jerk and is sadistic towards him and treats him with little-to-no respect, not even the whole family.
  • Lucy could be worse as she bothers William whenever she visits, intentionally, is extremely selfish as she constantly boasts that she's the star and never thinks about her brother's feelings.
  • Andy himself is shown to be a bit of a jerkass to William on occasions.
• Jerkass Ball: Even sweet Violette will have her moments of jerkassery in some videos, even being abusive towards William on occasions.
• Jerkass Has a Point:
  • Bill may be abusive, but he isn't wrong about William being on his Xbox for so long or not thinking about his family.
    • He also isn't wrong about how his wife Violette constantly spoils William and never openly disciplines him like a normal parent would and is too soft on him.
  • William may be a sociopathic brat, but he could be quick to point out how Bill can be selfish and not care for the family himself.
    • He also isn't wrong in "DAD SITS ON KID'S BIRTHDAY CAKE!!!", while William could have been more cooperative, he makes a valid point that Violette constantly records everything and never does anything to stop a situation and she could have easily put the bags away and move the cake from the chair before Bill even sat down.
• Jerk with a Heart of Gold:
  • Sometimes, William will sometimes put aside his differences with the family and get along for a change.
  • Sometimes, Bill will want William to stop playing Xbox and spend time with the family, despite how he usually treats him.
  • Andy is shown to participate in family time. He and William are shown to get along in the fanmail videos and the Violette2nd videos, despite how they usually act in the Violette1st videos.
  • Despite how she acts most of the time, Lucy has shown to greatly care for her adopted-son Zachary.
• Jerk with a Heart of Jerk: William will do something for the family, only if it will benefit him or get straight back on his Xbox.
• Kick the Dog: William, Bill, and Lucy have a tendency to do this to each other.
  • The most prominent one is in "GREATEST XBOX ONE S DESTRUCTION EVER!", where Bill and Andy tie up William in a chair outside with duct tape and bring out his Xbox One S and burn and destroy it with an ax and they go as far as to tease him when he was crying on his bed.
  Andy: HOW DOES IT FEEL!? HOW DOES IT FEEL!? HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE ON THE OTHER END!?
• The Killjoy: William is constantly complaining about not getting his way when things are going perfectly well for everyone and will try to ruin their fun because he's not having any.
• Kindhearted Cat Lover: Violette is sweet and owns four cats.
• Lack of Empathy:
  • William is shown to not care, nor show remorse for his family, or when he destroys stuff.
  • Bill will not give a shit about how he treats his own son and just acts like he deserves it.
  • Even Lucy will not show remorse for how she's treating her brother, or the rest of the family.
• Large Ham: Violette, William, Bill, Andy, and Lucy are shown to be really hammy in the videos when they're enraged.
• Laser-Guided Karma:
  • William will get what's coming to him mostly for his bratty behavior.
  • Bill will be on the receiving end of the gag when he goes too far.
  • Even Lucy will get her karma when she pushes William too far.
• Manchild: Bill is shown to act like a spoiled child when he doesn't get his way.
  • Andy has shown to get in childish fights with William despite him being in his 20's, he could be more of a Psychopathic Manchild.
  • Lucy is shown to be a Womanchild, as she constantly gets into childish fights with William, like Andy, and throws tantrums when she doesn't get her way.
• Motor Mouth: Whenever Violette gets mad, she completely loses it and goes off on a fast-talking rant about someone (mainly William) when they go too far.
• Misspelling Out Loud: William spells "candy" as "c-a-n-d-a-y" in one video.
• Ms. Fanservice: Lucy is shown as this in later videos.
• Never My Fault:
  • William really has a hard time owning up to his own mistakes and will openly pin the blame on his family members.
  • Bill will always blame William for his actions and will always say "he deserves it" as an excuse.
  • Even Lucy can be irresponsible like Bill and not own up to her own rude behavior and just acts like William deserves all the bad things that happen to him.
• Nice Girl: Violette is shown to be pretty sweet and nice despite how she usually has to deal with the drama of the family.
  • Andy could be a Nice Guy whenever he's not fighting with William.
• No Indoor Voice: Almost no one can go one video without screaming at the top of their lungs, but the most prominent examples are William and Violette.
• Not So Above It All: Despite Violette being the only person who doesn't usually go in a psychopathic rage like the others, she is shown to be pretty destructive herself, such as destroying William's Xbox One when he refused to come down for "Family Night" in "DAD SHOOTS SON'S XBOX!!!", throwing possessions out the window such as a bottle, clothes, and a heater in "MOM GOES PSYCHO AND THROWS CLOTHES OFF ROOF!!!", and destroying a fidget spinner she gave William and had it returned to her by beating it with a crowbar and running it over in her car in "MOM GOES PSYCHO AND THROWS FIDGET SPINNER OFF A ROOF!!!".
• Only Sane Woman: Violette is the only one who is never destroying something or acting rude or selfish and is usually the "voice-of-reason". That still doesn't change the fact that she's incompetent at solving situations.
• The Prankster: Andy is very fond of pranking William and takes great joy in doing it.
• Precision F-Strike: Lucy drops the F-bomb to William in "WILLIAM DESTROYS LUCY'S TV AFTER SHE THROWS HIS XBOX CONTROLLER IN THE TOILET!!!"
  Lucy: ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!?
  • Violette, of all people says the F word in "KID CUTS HIS FINGER OFF WITH CHAINSAW!!!" where William and Bill were playing a prank on Violette that William "cut" his finger off with the chainsaw.
  Violette: ARE YOU FREAKING SERIOUS!?
  Bill: Yes, I'm hungry!
  Violette: WE'RE NOT GOING TO THE FUCKING HOSPITAL!
  • In "WILLIAM SAID THE F WORD!!!", William was heard saying the F word by Violette and she and Bill confront him over it and Violette accidentally slips it when she and Bill were arguing over Bill encouraging William to cuss.
  Violette: WHAT THE FUCK!? YOU ALWAYS CUSS!
• Pushover Parents: Violette is accused of this due to her never taking action in William's sociopathic behavior and just films his tantrums and spoils him more and disciplines him less.
• Rage Quit: William has done this plenty of times and destroys something such as his controller or his headset when he is losing in a game.
• "The Reason You Suck" Speech: William gives one to his parents in the video where he burns his dad's car.
  William: I CAN'T STAND IT ANYMORE! YOU'RE FREAKIN' STUPID! THIS IS WHAT IT COMES TO!
• Say My Name: Violette shouts William's name in most of the videos.
• Screw This, I'm Outta Here: William will say this when he decides to go back upstairs to play his Xbox.
• Shoddy Knockoff Product: Downplayed due to being a legit electronics manufacturer, but Bill buys William a Sansui TV thinking it's a Samsung one. Understandably, William hates it and he axes it.
• Shot in the Ass: Violette, of all people has shot Bill in the butt with a BB gun in "MOM SHOOTS DAD IN THE BUTT!!!".
• Shut Up, Hannibal!: William or Violette will sometimes say this to Bill when he goes too far with his retaliations.
• Sibling Rivalry: William and Lucy are constantly at odds with each other.
• Sir Swears-a-Lot: Since no one swears that often, there's almost little-to-no swearing, probably the most foul-mouthed could be Bill or Andy since they say "hell" or "shit".
• Skewed Priorities: In every video, Violette never puts down the camera and resolve the drama like a normal person would. She more or less continues to film the chaos and scream her head off.
• Spoiled Brat: William is the most prominent example as he constantly wines and throws tantrums when he doesn't get his way and will do anything to get what he wants, that is destroying something.
  • Lucy also counts as one as she is always desperate for attention and will flip out if she doesn't get what she wants.
• Token Good Teammate: Violette is the only one who isn't an abusive sociopath like the others and is usually pleasant, she does have her moments though.
• Took a Level in Jerkass: William, Bill, and Lucy got way more rude, unlikable, and ill-mannered as the series went on.
• Troubling Unchildlike Behavior: William has attacked his mother and father on occasion. He even once shot Bill with a BB gun in the butt twice.
• Villainous Breakdown: William will have one in every raging video he's in.
• Villain Protagonist: William since he’s the center of attention in most episodes. Though depending on who its focusing on, anyone in the family.
• Wham Episode: The video where William burns his dad's car marked a turn to more mature storylines.
• Women Are Wiser: Averted. While Violette is not violent or destructive, she’s as negligent as Bill. Also Lucy is a Psychopathic Womanchild. Making neither of them likable just like the guys in this family.
