- In "Starscream Starts Trying", Starscream traps Megatron (who had just been reduced to head) claims Megatron is dead and takes control of the Decepticons.
- Ironically, at one point Starscream becomes The Starscream to his movie counterpart.
- Those Two Guys: Skidz and Mudflap are never seen without each other.
- Troll: G1 Starscream. He goes out of his way to creep out and annoy Megatron. Not even death can stop Starscream from trolling Megatron.
- Undying Loyalty: Soundwave to Megatron. When Megatron decides to leave the Decepticons, Soundwave follows him. Subverted however, when Megatron joins the Autobots, as at that point Soundwave realizes that his loyalty lies not with Megatron, but with the Decepticon cause itself.
- Villainous Rescue: Megatron unintentionally saves the Autobots in "Starscream Starts Trying" when he shows up to retake control of the Decepticons, in the process undoing the Decepticons' victory over the Autobots. Once he realizes what he's done, he quits.
