Venin Abyss is a vampire Machinima series created by MzRazberri, made using The Sims 2. The series was first uploaded in 2009. Fourteen episodes were uploaded before the series went on hiatus, leaving the story unconcluded. In 2019 the creator announced that she was unable to finish the Machinima series, but had instead published a novel adaptation concluding the story. The series revolves around a young man named Adrien, who after a serious accident, is turned into a vampire, and his struggle to survive and adapt to his new life.

The episodes can be viewed here or here.

Tropes found in this series include:

  • Accidental Murder: Adrien accidentally kills Jenna after becoming overwhelmed by the smell of her blood. Latimer also accidentally killed a man in his early years of vampirism who he then realised was his own son.
  • All There in the Manual: Extra information is revealed about the characters, including their birthdates, surnames and more on their backstories, on the official website.
  • Anti-Hero: All the main protagonists. They all hunt and kill humans, but they're marginally friendlier or more moral than the villains.
  • Armour-Piercing Question: Coran is all ready to go fight Adrien after he accidentally kills Jenna and several other people, risking their exposure...that is, until Kiana asks him how he would've reacted if he'd accidentally killed her or her mother, which clearly gets to him.
  • Asshole Victim:
    • Brock, seeing as he caused Adrien's death, hit Jenna and is an all round Jerkass.
    • The teen delinquents Adrien kills, for being obnoxious jerks who were willing to beat up a clearly troubled man simply for being there and hitting Valerie.
  • The Atoner: Latimer has spent centuries watching over his descendants out of guilt from accidentally killing his son and leaving his grandson without a father which is why he turned Adrien into a vampire - he's his modern day descendent and he couldn't bring himself to watch him die from his injuries sustained in a car accident.
  • Ax-Crazy: The Hunter vampires and Beatrice.
  • Big Bad / Greater-Scope Villain: Revealed to be Evadin, The Older Immortal.
  • Big Fancy House: Latimer's mansion in 17th century France. His current house ain't too shabby either. Adrien's beachfront house is quite luxurious too.
  • Bilingual Bonus: 'Venin' means 'venom' in French.
  • Black Boss Lady: The leader of the Hunter coven has some traits of this trope, though she's a villainous example. She is both feared and respected by all the vampires in her coven (who are pretty scary themselves), won't hesitate to put any subversive vampires in their place (sometimes via violence) and wears a nice-looking suit. It's not surprising, seeing as she has previous experience in ruling: she's actually Adaeze, who was once a princess.
  • Combat Stilettos: A few of the female Hunters wear these whilst on the hunt.
  • Cowboy Cop: Michelle. She often follows hunches (that usually lead nowhere) and keeps investigating Adrien's disappearance even after being told not to.
  • Cut Short: The series' last episode hasn't yet been aired due to the creator being occupied with university and some of the key voice actors quitting, leaving the story unfinished. The story was eventually adapted into a novel which includes the ending.
  • Da Chief: Michelle's father/boss.
  • Driven to Suicide: Adrien attempts Suicide by Sunlight after inadvertently killing Jenna and several other people...but it doesn't work because a snowstorm is blocking out the sun.
  • Eerie Pale-Skinned Brunette: Cade and Kyle. Beatrice is a non-vampire example.
  • Emergency Transformation: Latimer turned Adrien into a vampire after he was struck and fatally injured by a car. Coran, Xylia and Kiana were also turned by a passing vampire after they were fatally injured in a riot.
  • Everyone Looks Sexier if French: Latimer the French vampire.
  • Evil Is Hammy: Kyle, big time.
  • Facial Markings: Adaeze has rather noticeable markings on her cheeks, which seem to be cultural (possibly identifying her as the princess of her tribe). She still retains these marks, though coloured red, after becoming a vampire.
  • Fiery Redhead: Adrien. Michelle gets her moments, too.
  • Friendly Neighbourhood Vampire: Latimer, for the most part. Adrien tries to be this, though with...mixed results.
  • Gold Digger: Played with in Jenna's case. She's dating Adrien (and fooling around with Brock on the side) to leech off their wealth, though she actually seems to genuinely care about Adrien. It's debatable as to whether she's in love with him.
  • Goth: The vampires often dress in this style. Even Adrien switches to this style after a few months.
  • Happily Married:
    • Coran and Xylia.
    • Adaeze and Latimer were many centuries ago.
  • Hope Spot: In Episode 13, Adaeze learns that Latimer is the leader of the coven and rushes to call off the attack. Unfortunately, she doesn't get there in time to stop Kyle from staking Latimer and he apparently dies in her arms.
  • Horror Hunger: Vampires drink blood, as usual, and it ain't pretty if they don't feed regularly and happen across a hapless human.
  • Idle Rich: Adrien, prior to becoming a vampire. He inherited a substanial amount of money from his deceased father and doesn't seem to do much actual work.
  • I Hate You, Vampire Dad:
    • Adrien isn't too pleased about Latimer turning him into a vampire (even though he saved his life), mostly because he has to give up his old life and can't see Jenna anymore. He hates him even more after accidentally kills Jenna. However, he warms up to him a lot more after Latimer tells him his life-story and reveals they're related.
    • Latimer and Adaeze too has very good reasons for hating his maker Evadin.
  • I Love You, Vampire Son: Latimer cares very deeply about Adrien. Especially when it's revealed he's actually his ancestor.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: The best way to kill a vampire is a stake to the heart.
  • Interplay of Sex and Violence: Kyle and girlfriend have sex shortly after massacring a club of people...amidst the blood and bodies, no less.
  • Lovecraft Country: The series is set in Massachusetts.
  • Love Hurts: Latimer and Adrien both experience this.
  • Love Ruins the Realm / Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: After Adaeze ran off with Latimer, her father declared war on the French colonists due to believing she was kidnapped, causing a lot of deaths and forcing the couple to skip town due to an angry mob coming for them.
  • Maligned Mixed Marriage: Some people were not happy (or at the least were quite shocked) about Latimer, a 17th century French aristocrat, marrying Adaeze, a West African princess. Her dad actually ended up starting a war over it, believing Latimer had kidnapped his daughter.
  • Manipulative Bitch:
    • Jenna was only dating Adrien for his money, whilst pretending she loved him. However, she eventually developed feelings for him and planned to come clean and leave him, believing he deserved someone better. She also accepted his marriage proposal and spends months looking for him after he disappears, implying that she may have loved him after all.
    • Beatrice is a straighter example. After trying to murder Adaeze, she cuts her own cheek and then accuses Adaeze of attacking her.
  • The Masquerade: Vampires (or most of them anyway) try to keep their existence a secret and hunt discreetly.
  • Murder the Hypotenuse:
    • At the beginning of the series, Brock pushes Adrien into the path of a speeding car due to being jealous of his relationship with Jenna.
    • Beatrice also tried to kill Adaeze due to Latimer choosing her instead and frames her for 'attacking' her.
  • My God, What Have I Done?:
    • Adrien has this reaction after going into a bloodlust and accidentally killing Jenna.
    • Latimer's reaction after realising he'd unknowingly killed his own son.
  • Mystical White Hair: Kiana and Xylia.
  • Our Vampires Are Different: Vampires have super speed, strength and healing, becoming stronger with age. They can fly, cry Tears of Blood and are apparently not as affected by the cold as humans (they're seen walking around in the snow in bare feet or skimpy clothing with no ill effects). There are two kinds of vampire; Hunters - who are nomadic and tend to be more aggressive - and Harvesters - who settle in one place and tend to be more docile. Vampires, particularly new ones, have to feed regularly or they go into a bloodlust. It's also implied that vampires who are turned by someone to whom they're related have greater powers and heal more quickly.
  • Not Good with Rejection:
    • Beatrice was not happy when Latimer brought Adaeze home and introduced her as his wife.
    • Brock outright tries to kill Adrien when Jenna chooses him instead.
  • Offing the Offspring: Latimer accidentally fed from and killed his adult son Alexander, only realising the truth afterwards.
  • Older Than They Look: Most of the vampires, due to not ageing from the moment they're turned. Kiana is a particularly notable example; she appears to be in her teens but is chronologically in her late 20's/early 30's.
  • Pretty Boy: Almost all the male vampires.
  • The Reveal:
    • Latimer is Adrien's distant ancestor.
    • The leader of the Hunter coven is Adaeze, who was actually turned into a vampire rather than being killed and believes Latimer is dead.
    • Latimer is being threatened by Evadin, who is leading the Hunters to them.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Hunter vampires have these eyes.
  • Romantic Vampire Boy: Adrien to Jenna. He ends up killing her by mistake.
  • Snow Means Death: The second half of the series takes place in winter, during a snow storm. As well as ramping up the body count, it's justified in that the snow storm blots out the sun, allowing vampires to move around and hunt more easily.
  • Starcrossed Lovers: Latimer and Adaeze. He was the son of a French ambassador in West Africa, whilst she was the daughter of the king of a West African tribe, who were forbidden to marry. Later, it turns out that Adaeze is the leader of the Hunter coven targeting Latimer and his coven, although neither of them are aware of this, both believing the other to be dead. Like many forbidden love stories, it ends in tragedy.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: Valerie has such a strong resemblance to her sister Jenna that Adrien mistakes her for Jenna whilst he's having some Sanity Slippage.
  • Supernatural Gold Eyes: Harvester vampires have these eyes.
  • Trauma Conga Line: Latimer found out a mob was coming for him and his family. Upon heading home to collect them and run, he discovered his wife had been arrested and locked up assault, which she was framed for. Later, he and his family were taken captive by a pair of vampires and could only watch helplessly as they murdered his wife, his last human memory being his baby son crying in terror. When he woke up he was alone, leading him to believe his son had been killed. And then, years later, he inadvertently killed his grown son out of bloodlust, only realising what he'd done after it was too late. Later, he witnesses his young descendent, whom he'd watched over all his life, be struck and fatally wounded by a car, and be staked in the stomach.
  • Vampires Are Rich: Latimer seems pretty well-off, living in a Big Fancy House he built from scratch and having built another one for Coran and his family.
  • Warm Blood Bags Are Everywhere: This is a problem for new vampires or ones that haven't fed in a while, sometimes resulting in Accidental Murder.
  • Wham Shot: The shot in Episode 12 revealing that the leader of the Hunters is Adaeze.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Brock hits Jenna across the face after seeing she still had feelings for Adrien.
