"Ara ara..."

The Multiverse Monarch—or simply Monarch—is the VTuber persona of musician and voice actress Amanda Lee, who made said debut on December 11th, 2021. As detailed in her lore videos, the Monarch was once Ama, a Valkyrie and younger twin sister of Queen Lee who was charged with protecting the Multiverse. When Lee was betrayed and assassinated by her subjects, Ama went insane with grief and rage, slaughtering them, taking her sister's identity and crown for herself, and setting out to conquer that which she had once protected.

An original album by AmaLee, "Rise of the Monarch", was released on June 24, 2022 and provides hints as to Monarch's backstory, which was further explored by a series of lore and music videos:

Content from her includes Let's Plays, livestream chats, songs, and music videos.

Tropes related to the Multiverse Monarch:

  • Animal Motifs: Monarch's cape and throne are patterned after the wings of blue monarch butterflies, which are often shown accompanying her.
  • Big Bad Friend: Monarch's avatars are framed in a heroic light in AmaLee's music videos, befriending and fighting alongside the canon heroes... but it's all a ruse, as their true purpose is to spy on them so that Monarch can learn how best to defeat them when she conquers those universes.
  • Black Eyes of Crazy: Some of the music videos and one of her model animations depict Monarch with black sclerae when she's feeling particularly bloodthirsty, which the lore video shows her developing as she snaps after witnessing her beloved sister's murder. Her siren form can also manifest black sclerae to complement her Hellish Pupils.
  • The Baroness: As evidenced by her use of "Ara ara..."—a Japanese expression roughly translating to "Oh my..." or "My my..." and memetically associated with female dominatrix-type characters—in "MWTWB", Monarch fits the Sexpot subtype, being a ruthless tyrant who dresses provocatively and wants to bring her opponents literally under her heel.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: As detailed in the songs "MWTWB" and "Villain Vibes", after Ama's Face–Heel Turn she swan-dives into the deep end—becoming a ruthless "dommy mommy" tyrant who executes those who defy her and seeks to conquer the Multiverse itself.
  • Cerebus Retcon: The Multiverse Monarch serves as this to all of the previous AmaLee song covers which feature her Author Avatar in the music videos, with them being revealed to be the result of the Monarch projecting clones across the multiverse to "help" the heroes, learn of the universes, and take them over.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: AmaLee's original album, "Rise of the Monarch", tells Monarch's backstory, with more details being provided in the "The old me exists no longer" video, which reveals the Multiversal Monarch was originally a Valkyrie named Ama, the twin sister of Queen Lee — who oversaw and protected the Multiverse. The other Valkyries rebelled against Lee and assassinated her, causing Ama to go insane, kill them all, and take up her sister's identity to conquer the Multiverse she'd once been charged with protecting.
  • The Dark Side Will Make You Forget: In "And so, my work begins..", Monarch states that she no longer remembers her past or how she came to rule over what remains of her home dimension, only that her glorious purpose is to conquer and subjugate the Multiverse.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Monarch's Siren form technically first appeared a little over two years prior to its official debut, in the "【Halloween Original Song】 Monsters" collab music video.
  • Fallen Hero: Monarch was originally a heroic Valkyrie named Ama, but after her queen and twin sister Lee was murdered she went insane and turned evil.
  • God Save Us from the Queen!: The "Rise of the Monarch" album depicts Monarch as a ruthless and sadistic tyrant who happily tortures and kills anyone who dares to stand up to her.
Lemme tell ya that you're messing with the wrong bitch now
Can't let you forget it's me who wears the crown
And if you dare stand in my way
Then, baby, I'ma cut you down, down, down
  • Hopeless with Tech: The basic type. While Monarch knows enough tech to be able to host regular streams, she often encounters troubles on said streams be it from her devices/programs not acting properly or mistakenly doing wrong things on her own accord. It happened often enough that her fan base has nicknamed her 'Scuff Queen'. This is referenced in Monarch and Cy-Yu's April Fools Day 2024 collab, a cover of "Stayed Gone" from Hazbin Hotel with Monarch's siren form in place of Vox and Cy-Yu in place of Alastor.
  • Highly-Visible Ninja: Monarch's avatar in the Naruto music videos wears a white halter top that exposes most of her chest, her butterfly-inscribed Martial Arts Headband as an armband, black shorts, and a blue waistcloth—with her upper body only being covered by translucent mesh.
  • Jerkass Gods: Monarch was once a heroic Valkyrie, but is now a ruthless tyrant seeking to bring the Multiverse under her heel... dominatrix-style.
  • LGBT Awakening: During the Sheigo Saga, Monarch states that Shego was her Bi Awakening.
  • Multiversal Conqueror: Monarch was originally a Guardian of the Multiverse, but the murder of her twin sister caused her to go insane and now she seeks to conquer the Multiverse instead, using clone avatars to infiltrate and spy on the heroes by befriending them.
  • My Sibling Will Live Through Me: "The old me exists no longer" reveals that after her twin sister Queen Lee was murdered, Ama took up her sister's identity and crown as the Multiverse Monarch, even wearing her sister's clothes... but took her reign in the opposite direction, seeing to subjugate the Multiverse instead of protecting it.
  • Mythology Gag: The Monarch clone in "Where the Wind Blows" from One Piece has white and blue hair, a reference to AmaLee's cover of the Pokémon: The Original Series theme-song—where the Monarch clone wonders if her hair is blue or white.
  • Navel-Deep Neckline: Monarch's default appearance has her chest only covered by silvery-blue petal-like scales that leave her cleavage and abdomen exposed. The scales continuing over her pants suggests they may be part of a garment.
  • Pretentious Pronunciation: How the entire "Shiego" incident came to be was because of Monarch's insistence in pronouncing Shego's name as such.
  • Self-Duplication: Of a sort. The author avatars that pop up in many of AmaLee's music videos are revealed to be clones or offshoots of Monarch that she sends into the different universes of the Multiverse to spy on the heroes so that she can learn how best to defeat them.
  • Sirens Are Mermaids: On January 16th, 2023 AmaLee debuted a siren form for Monarch that is a mermaid with silvery scales, fin-shaped ears, Hellish Pupils, and sharp teeth.
  • Shock and Awe: The cover for AmaLee's Naruto cover album, "MY NINJA WAY", depicts Monarch's Narutoverse avatar performing a Chidori—her hand wreathed in blue-white lightning.
  • Slasher Smile: In the music video for AmaLee's cover of "Jingo Jungle" from The Saga of Tanya the Evil, Monarch's avatar stands alongside Tanya von Degurechaff as they both sport bloodthirsty grins.
  • Sociopathic Soldier: The Monarch clone from AmaLee's cover of "Jingo Jungle" from The Saga of Tanya the Evil—a song about how awesome war is for blood knights—sports a Slasher Smile as she stands alongside the equally vicious and bloodthirsty Tanya von Degurechaff, their Elenium Type 95 operation orbs glowing ominously.
  • To Serve Man: In the "【Halloween Original Song】 Monsters" music video, Siren Monarch sings about how she likes to use her hypnotic voice to lure people into the ocean so she can eat them.
  • Villainous Friendship: "Villain Vibes" has Monarch jamming with Mori Calliope, who sings praises as to how ruthless, vicious, and sadistic Monarch is.
  • Villain Protagonist: Monarch serves as this for AmaLee's music videos, which depict clones of her befriending the heroes of various anime and video game series in order to spy on them so that Monarch can learn their secrets and be better able to conquer their worlds.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: In the "And so, my work begins.." video, Monarch states that she started out wanting to help the heroes of the Multiverse but saw that evil always triumphed over good... so she decided to become the stronger evil and conquer the universes herself to "save" them.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: Monarch has silvery white hair, and was once a Valkyrie charged with protecting the Multiverse. Now she is a domineering evil goddess who wants to conquer it.

"You messed with the wrong bitch, but somehow you're still alive
Bossed up respect myself. I accept this villain vibe
The monster that you made had you digging your own grave
I drank your light, rose from embers, so you can call me King"
