Detective Void is an animated web series on YouTube, set within the universe of the SCP Foundation.

The series is hosted and narrated by the titular Detective Void, a paranormal investigator and conspiracy theorist who knows about the existence of the SCP Foundation, along with all the anomalies they try to hide from the world. Most videos on the channel discuss various SCPs contained by the Foundation; summarizing what they are, while the Detective also offers his own guesses about their nature and origins. There's also an ongoing sub-series of videos which are focused on Void's own backstory and secrets, gradually revealing his motives for spying on the Foundation.

This fanfic includes examples of:

  • Ambiguously Human: Whether Void is a Person Of Interest, an SCP himself, or someone merely using an SCP to break into the Foundation to acquire their secrets. He later clarifies in a Q&A that neither he nor his mask are anomalies. Now it's just ambiguous about whether the entity he's not aware is sharing his body is part of him, or his mask.
  • Beethoven Was an Alien Spy: In-universe, Void theorizes that some SCPs were historical people; he thinks that SCP-542 was the notorious Josef Mengele, and SCP-1440 is Leo Tolstoy.
  • Conspiracy Theorist: Void doesn't just read the articles verbatim, but includes his own speculations about the nature of the SCP's he discusses.
  • The Corruptor: Like always, Bobble is this to children. His show brainwashes children to commit murder, arson and cannibalism.
  • Demonic Possession: Void theorizes that Bobble possesses people to commit crimes for his show.
  • Faking the Dead: Apparently, the Mad Scientist that created SCP-191 apparently faked his death to escape the Foundation.
  • Parental Abandonment: The Foundation discovered SCP-134 after reports of a child with unusual eyes at an orphanage in Yokohama, Japan. There's no information on any family she may have had before arriving at the orphanage.
  • Shout-Out: Void compares SCP-134's bizarre eye to Orion's galaxy containing cat-collar.
