X-Men editor, Mark Paniccia, revealed that either Gambit or Rogue would be joining the team. However, with No Surrender in full swing (and Tom Taylor's previous experience writing Gambit in All-New Wolverine) Gambit seems to be the most likely choice.- Confirmed (accidentally) by an interview on Marvel's website with Tom Taylor and Mahmud Asrar, and then the solicitations for a future issue.

Tom Taylor will use the book to play out some of the things he'd originally planned for All-New Wolverine
There were certain plans for All-New Wolverine that never came to fruition, Taylor could instead do these here.- Red Hornet from the All-New Wolverine annual was meant to return in the regular book.
- Laura and Kate Bishop were supposed to meet up and maybe team up again, following the former's guest spot in Hawkeye.
