If there is a Book 3, it will be an Hourglass Plot of Book 1 with Ella/Ellis in place of Kieran and vice versa
The descriptions for Chapters 13 and 14 (combined with the reveal at the end of Chapter 12 and the title of Chapter 14) all but confirm that Ella/Ellis will be granted access to the Immortality Curse, which will give them the power they need to defeat Jack, but at the cost of their own heart. Book 2 would likely have a Bittersweet Ending; Ella/Ellis and Kieran have defeated Jack and his army, but the former is now in the same position that the latter was in at the start of Book 1. As such, Book 3 (if there is one) would be about fixing Ella/Ellis' now cursed heart with the help of Kieran. Also, it's unlikely, but Book 3 in this case may even have a Switching P.O.V., where we spend half the time playing as Kieran as they try to help Ella/Ellis with the same problem they once had.- Jossed, Book 2 is the final book.
On the flipside, Ella/Ellis will be "cured" of their cursed heart by the end of Book 2, which will be the final book in the series
Despite the potential of Ella/Ellis as a literally heartless Villain Protagonist (compounded further by the ending of Chapter 14), the descriptions of the last two chapters don't look promising in this regard. Chapter 15's description mentions that "Ella/Ellis' love for Kieran proved more powerful than any curse. Fate, it seems, is not without a sense of irony", while the description for the 16th and final chapter mentions Ella/Ellis' "mortal weakness", despite the Mortality Cure supposedly making them immortal. It stands to reason that Kieran will (somehow) cure Ella/Ellis' cursed heart with The Power of Love in the penultimate chapternote , and they will once again be an ordinary human immune to Fae magic in time for the finale, where they will defeat Opulence and save the Fae realm, followed by them living happily ever after with Kieran.- Confirmed.
