-You can say it was for plot but didn’t it seem more then coincidental that just as Gus was about to really do a number on Drew he chose to spring out and attack Gus? Who’s to say an animal even under control of whatever revives them can’t retain loyal to its owner and want revenge. especially when said owner stayed with them in ther last moments and said victim shot them just for interrupting intercourse.
