WMG / Persona 4: Dancing All Night

Go To

Calling it now, this game's antagonist is Kanami Mashita's Shadow.
Kanami is secretly upset that Rise is back in showbiz, as now, she herself is back to being #2 in Japan.
  • The entire reason for the dance battles is to give Kanamin a chance to prove she is a better pop star then Rise (as set up by her shadow) after all just killing the shadows traditionally wouldn't prove anything but dance battles can show who is the better star.
    • That would actually be really interesting to see. Any ideas as to what Shadow Kanami would look like?
      • OP: I was thinking for her wearing Rise's stage uniform. The idea of her wanting to be #1 like Rise.
      • (troper who wanted to know) Oooh… yes, good! And what about her true form? Similar to Shadow Rise, or worse?
  • Semi-Jossed Kanami's shadow does appear, however it was just a disguise the Big Bad used who's identity is a Shinto deity.

Yukiko will dance ballet.
Because much like Yukiko, ballet is considered an exemplar of feminine grace, but also has a tough side to it. It's said to be extremely damaging to the legs.
  • semi-confirmed if this says anything about it

The game is going to have a lot of unexpected Nightmare Fuel.
Because come on, it's still a Persona game.
  • There is some. At least in Kanami's backstory.
  • Actually, if you understand Japanese, pretty much anything involving Yuko Osada is Nightmare Fuel. Even the characters in-universe are unsettled by her fate.

Aleph from Shin Megami Tensei II will appear
He'll be a bonus boss and he'll dance furiously.
  • Now that would be an awesome Mythology Gag.
  • And the introduction? "LET'S DANCING!"

Mark will appear.
And he'll dance crazy.

The yellow scarfs hold significance.
Seeing the new models for the Investigation team, everyone is wearing a yellow cloth in one style or another. (Narukami on his bicep, Kanji as a headband, etc.) This is the only unifying bit of clothing among the group apart from their school uniforms. Odds are there's an in-story reason everyone is wearing the accessory.
  • Kind of, it's to symbolize that they're all part of Rise temporary group of back-up dancers for the Bond Festival. There's no deeper meaning to that though.
  • It also provides a nice counter-example to the yellow ribbons that symbolize the Midnight Stage and its removal of individual identity.

There will be a Rock Band styled minigame with the Persona.
They gave Izanagi a guitar, it isn't farfetched that the Persona went ahead and started an entire band. The minigame would include tapping buttons at the right times to play notes and conduct songs from the series!
  • So far Jossed I'm afraid. Gameplay footage shows the Persona playing their instruments as part of the victory animation for clearing the song.

Kyoka Ochimizu and Yuko Osada were a couple.
Yuko talks about Ochimizu in her diary entries like she were the most important person in her life, Yuko's most treasured possession was the diary she got from Ochimizu, both of them used a passcode made up of their two birthdays put together, and right after the two of them had their first fight in the entirety of Yuko's career, Yuko committed suicide. Add in the fact that Calystegia's lyrics make it sound like a love-song in some parts and the implications are obvious.

The entire game is just a dream
Rise is nervous about returning to show business and on her way to her first performance, her nervousness produces the dream in order to help her cope and fell confident once she gets there.
  • Semi-Jossed While it's not just a dream by Rise, the game's narrative is basically told during a dream - namely the Player's dream. The story is told to the player when the player falls asleep and they end up in the Velvet Room with Margaret who shows them the story through a visual flashback.

The visitor to the Velvet Room is The Phantom
That way, if any of the Investigation Team members make a cameo in Persona 5, he won't be surprised to run into them.

Miku Hatsume (in this game, at least), is actually Mikuratana-no-Kami
She could be using Miku as an avatar to study humanity, which is how she came to the warped conclusions she did.
