June Squibb's character knew that Sarah was in a time loop. She was speaking too direct to imply otherwise.
- Maybe she got herself stuck in the time loop on purpose so as to not die
Nyles got Sarah trapped in the time loop on purpose.
There will always be a version of Nyles caught in the time loop.
- In the post credit scene, it's never shown whether or not Roy told pre-loop Nyles about the time loop. Even if he did tell him, it's doubtful pre-loop Nyles would believe him and would end up in the time loop anyway.
- Assuming that the new Nyles and Sarah would live out the day the same way they originally did, yeah, it makes sense that the new Nyles would find the cave and be back in the same mess all over again. Unless it’s possible that someone ELSE (like Nana?) found the cave first, and Original Nyles getting caught in the loop was the result of that person’s actions.
Nyles was arrested for carjacking immediately after escaping the loop
Ted, the bartender nyles stole the truck from had to have seen Nyles' ID to sell him drinks in California, which means he's seen his name and address. The timelines continue after Nyles and the others Re-loop, meaning that everything that happens actually still has lasting effects after the day is done
Nana decides to be Nyles's wingman
- When Nana says that's the best wedding speech she's ever heard, she's just trying to help the two hook up. She's come to like Nyles and think that the cynical Sarah might benefit from him.
Nyles didn't forget what his job was, he just didn't have a job.
- He remembered his dog, but somehow didn't remember what his living was? This troper doesn't think so.
- Or his job was the sort of meaningless work that people do just for a paycheck—service, sales, something like that. This troper would personally remember his dog long after he forgot his job.
Nyles tortured and murdered people in early loops.
- To quote Nyles: "Being a source of terror is not fun and it's not fulfilling, I know from experience"
- He probably went through a full blown serial killer phase due to the lack of consequences
- Adds a bit of darkness to him saying "getting sex requires a lot of work".
- Or stole some of Spud's guns and went on a shooting spree. He tells Sarah he'd slept with her a thousand times.. but has he ever killed her?
Nyles and Sarah will eventually decide to go back into the time loop
- It'll be right around the time they anounced Covid-19
The loop was pushed forward one day, but they're still in the time loop
They actually didn't immediately reset the loop after he met her at the cave, but took a few more days
- Just to remember what exactly they were doing the days prior to the wedding, and anything they had scheduled for the next week they may have forgotten about in the years they were in loop.
Nyles knew about the loop in the mid-credits scene
- They woke up the same morning again but somehow knew that the loop has reset (maybe the cave never appeared), explaining why Nyles was in a tuxedo. They had to do the day one more time, but it was okay with them knowing it was the last for sure. That's how Roy got the message to come to the wedding. Nyles is playing stupid so Roy can simply move on with life thinking only he remembers.
Roy is the reason that Nyles gets caught in the loop
- During the stinger, Nyles doesn't appear to recognise Roy and he asks for lots of alcohol. Roy sees this as a final chance to make Nyles pay for Roy getting trapped. This in turn then means once Roy makes it out, Nyles will inadvertently bring the pre-loop Roy to the cave and the cycle will continue.
Nyles was using roy's attack to manipulate sarah into going into the cave at the beginning of the movie
It's the only way to get her into the time loop while making her think it was her own idea to do so.Nyles is known for being manipulative and having been in the time loop for 40 years, he's gotten good at it. Nyles mentioning his dog for the first time is a sign that his memory of his pre-loop life is coming back.
He wasn't deliberately holding out on Sarah, it's just Out of Time, Out of Mind in action.
