WMG / My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic S7 E10 "A Royal Problem"

It was the map's mission to find Starlight originally

The the map's initial purpose was to find Starlight Glimmer, which would explain a) why it only sent her for this mission to mend things between the royal sisters and b) why it sent a pony outside of the Mane Six. When it sent the Mane Six to find Starlight's village as its first act, it sent all six of them, which is unique as that has never happened since. Its first act was to make sure Starlight was sought out and that making sure that her village was liberated. It wasn't necessarily to save the ponies there from her (though that may have been a secondary blessing) but so she would eventually cross paths again with Twilight as there was some greater mission she had to fulfill at a later point.
