  • The notion of a darker/evil form of Celestia has been played with in the fandom for some time, usually given the name Nightmare Star or Solar Flare. Of note is that Daybreaker remains consistent with the generally hot red/flaming looks and burning mane that the fans gave to Nightmare Star/Solar Flare.
  • Before this episode aired, a common fan belief went that Celestia is far more powerful than she lets on, but actively holds back because of the possibility she could harm others by not doing so. Daybreaker's speech to Celestia in this episode confirmed that fan theory.
  • This short fanfic from six years ago explores the possibility of Celestia snapping under the pressure of having to manage the country for more than 1000 years non-stop. This episode confirmed that Celestia is indeed at risk of emotionally breaking down from the burden of governing Equestria.
  • It was a common fan belief that Luna shows up so little because, as Princess of the Night, she's nocturnal. This episode confirms this.
• Blooper: The first time we see Twillerina up close (right around when the episode title is displayed), her left wing is noticeably textured wrong. Later on, twice during the scene where Starlight is talking to Twilight after the pancakes scene, the same is true for both wings seen from behind.
• Short Run in Peru: The episode aired on May 20 in Canada, despite a US air date of June 10.
