Beware of unmarked spoilers!!!

Elios will hurt Emma at some point.

  • As of Episode 63, he's showing signs of instability around her. Furthermore, the chapter at which these moments are revealed are called "His Regret". Could it refer to some point in the future, at which time Yohan is reflecting on these moments and wondering if he could've done something different when it mattered and he could've protected Emma?

Or worse…

Emma becomes one of Elios' victims.

  • He begins to think along the lines of If I Can't Have You… and kills her, possibly himself as well. Given the comic doesn't shy away from a fairly realistic portrayal of an abusive relationship, and many abusive relationships end pretty horribly, it's not out of the realm of possibility.
    • Thankfully (?) Jossed as of Episode 69; Elios is Emma.

Sophie ultimately survives.

  • Her fate seems fairly ambiguous when we last see her. Likely she'll be found and helped.

Post-S 2 Theories. Extra spoiler warning for these

Emma killed her dad.

  • Kinda obvious at this point, now that we've seen what she's capable of and how she deals with those who would hurt her.
    • Jossed; while he did die while trying to hurt her, she didn't do it intentionally.

The Real Elios tried hurting Emma, making him an Asshole Victim.

  • Even before we learned Elios' true nature, he was pretty unpleasant. Even Emma seemed to be becoming aware of it. It's likely that Relios really did hurt her, or possibly really did have an abusive relationship with her, so she eventually snapped and activated her self-preservation instincts. Meanwhile, she feels guilty (which he alludes to in Episode 69), so imagines him still alive and blocks out the abuse. Not perfectly, of course, so that's why this Elios is still pretty bad.
    • Jossed, given that Emma's current personality is actually Elios'.

The Real Elios rejected Emma and she didn't take it well.

  • A twisted version of the above pre-reveal WMG. While Emma's a pretty nice person, she's also got the whole dangerous alter ego thing, and is capable of murder.
    • Confirmed as of episode 81.

Elios is some version of Emma's abusive dad.

  • Which would explain his dress sense (very unusual and old-fashioned for a young adult), his white hair, and his cruelty. Emma killed him in self defense, and meanwhile hallucinated another, younger version of him in her life. Since she was also probably looking for some sort of figure to protect her, and that's what dads are supposed to do, this version took another potentially protective figure: that of a defensive boyfriend who takes care of her sometimes. That said, since poor Emma doesn't have much of a concept of what real love should be, even the idealized version has some problems, even discounting the whole murdering thing…
    • Jossed; Elios was real.
