Per wiki policy, Spoilers Off applies here and all spoilers are unmarked. You Have Been Warned.

Imhotep will be revealed as the one who turned the Elder Vampire.
It would certainly explain why he waited 500 years: Someone has to wake The Mummy up before he can take his revenge.

The Demon that turned the Elder Vampire will be the Big Bad of the Universal Monsters Shared Universe.
It turned the human (Caligula according to the original script) into the Vampire. Perhaps it doomed Imhotep/Kharis (depending on which Mummy Universal decides to use) to the curse as well? It could be tied to all of the Monsters.

The sequel will be a remake of the original Dracula novel, set in the 21st century.
Because at this point it's the only way they could conceivably make Dracula seem villainous again.
  • Problem: This Dracula is less bestial and much, much more powerful than the book version while lacking many of that version's weaknesses. Book Dracula was mainly motivated by finding richer feeding grounds and had to use an elaborate plan involving buying property and importing grave dirt just to travel to England, while there is no indication this version would have any reason to do so. Besides, this version could wipe out Harker, van Helsing, and the others in seconds unless they were upgraded to a similar degree.
    • See below for Van Helsing
    • Not necessarily. Mehmet was able to give Drac a real fight, and nearly won. There's no particular reason why Harker, Morris, Holmwood, Seward, and van Helsing all together couldn't do better, especially with modern weapons.

The entire film was a Batman Gambit by the Elder Vampire in an attempt to free himself.
Think about it. He tells Vlad that he's waited many years for a man like him. However what was it that drew Vlad to that cave in the first place? The Turks. They find the helm that washed downstream and assume it came from the direction of the cave. Vlad checks the cave and loses two of his men in the process. While the Elder Vampire does get injured by Vlad before he escapes it quickly dawns on you only later that his sire could have EASILY killed him. Why not do this? Simple....it's hinted early on during Vlad's first encounter with the Turks that they believe he's responsible for the disappearance of their men. The whole film could easily be a massive chain reaction:

-Elder Vampire kills the Turks and tosses a helm out of the cave to go down the river

-Vlad and his scouts find a helm and investigate the cave

-Vlad gets away rather easily all things considered

-Turks believe their missing men is Vlad's doing

-Turks demand a thousand boys and Vlad's son

-Vlad snaps, kills their men, knowing it will start a war

-Vlad seeks the vampire's power knowing his people are doomed otherwise

-Elder grants power in the hope that Vlad won't be able to resist drinking human blood

-The Elder is freed when Vlad gives in following his failure to protect his family and end things on the third day

Granted it's not a perfect theory due to the fact that one must wonder how exactly the Elder Vampire would have learned of Vlad. However many of the monks had the same nightmare at the same time. Also one needs to consider the gypsy that called Vlad master. It's possible that the gypsy could have been a servant of the Elder Vampire due to how eager he was to get Vlad to drink. Overall the plan isn't perfect enough to reach Xanatos Gambit levels. However assuming it was indeed planned at all at the very least it elevates the Elder Vampire to the levels of a Magnificent Bastard.

At some point we'll be introduced to Countess Zaleska.
Not sure if this is still going to be part of the Universal Monsters reboot, but there really isn't anywhere else for this guess. Obviously, they can't not include The Bride of Frankenstein, because she's become such an Ensemble Dark Horse (if only to give them a Token Chick), but in the 21st Century it might be a good idea for Universal to avoid The Smurfette Principle. For that, they need at least one more female monster...now if only there was a classic female monster, not as well known mainly because she was ahead of her time, who could easily be incorporated into the story...but, where would we find something like that?
  • Or maybe we'll meet Dracula's brides?
  • Actually would be cool a remake from Dracula's Daughter.

Dracula will pull an Eviler than Thou on the Elder Vampire

Other movies in the Shared Universe will have flashbacks showing Dracula as The Chessmaster in other stories
Such as encountering The Mummy or Frankenstein's Monster.

Lawrence Talbot's Wolf Man form will be every bit as much a One-Man Army as Dracula
So that when they finally face off, it will be EPIC!

Dr. Van Helsing will be a Composite Character of the usual and Hugh Jackman versions
A seemingly harmless doctor who's secretly a monster-hunting badass.

21 century Dracula will be a Hero with Bad Publicity
In this film, he's not a villain, neither becomes one in the end. So, to have a new film going on, someone will try to kill him because he's a vampire and vampires are evil, and he struggles to show that he has his hands clean. And the older vampire will help to cause this, perhaps with a newspaper with "Dracula: Threat or menace?" headlines.

Alternatively, Dracula really did become evil during the Time Skip
Loosing his family was his Start of Darkness, and he spent the next few centuries turning dark and bitter from his growing bloodlust. In the epilogue he was merely being Affably Evil (something Dracula does often).

Robert Pattinson will get a cameo in a later film
His role? Someone that Dracula KILLS THE F*CK OUT OF!!!
  • Perhaps he'll be one of Dracula's vampire followers, who accuses him of being to old to lead them and suggests it's time for a new ruler (him). Dracula responds with a brutal Curb-Stomp Battle.

Related to the above, Dracula will help fund Victor Frankenstein's experiment
Dracula figured he could use the creature as a giant, superstrong servant that could move around in sunlight. Unfortunately, the creature will be less-than-willing to comply.

When the monsters all come together, here are some lines we can expect:
Dracula: Big man covered in magic wrappings. Take those off what are you?Mummy: High priest, warrior, polymath, necromancer.

Dracula: I'm bringing the party to you.

Phantom of the Opera: We need you to come in.

Wolfman: I don't play well with others.

Dracula: Dr. Jekyll, now might be a good time for you to get thirsty.Dr. Jekyll: That's my secret, Drac. I'm always thirsty.

Bride of Frankenstein: It's like Budapest all over again.Frankenstein's monster: You and I remember Budapest very differently.

Dracula: And there's one other person you pissed off. His name is Erik.

Guesses on the twists involving the other monsters and/or their movies
  • The Demon: Turns out to be the Big Good setting up all the incidents that result in the creation of the monsters so that they can be heroes, protectors of humanity. Will go on with a speech about why humans are so special and that this is his/her way of giving humanity a chance of taking their destiny into their own hands from the beings that would strip them of their free will.

  • The Wolf-Man: Will not be able to control the wolf at first but by the end will learn to aim it at a specific target. The last scene, stinger, Mid Credit Scene or Post-Credit Scene will have the protagonist searching out a certain dual-minded doctor who might be able to help him take control over the wolf within.
    • Are we thinking of the same dual-minded doctor? Because not everyone may get that, since it been argued in the past whether he truly counts as a Universal Monster. (Though I think he does)
      • Yes, that Dual-Minded Doctor. And too be fair he doesn't have to count as a Universal Monster to actually be a supporting character who suffers from a similar problem to the person they are helping. Though Hyde does count as a Universal Monster in most listings for some reason.

  • Frankenstein's Monster: Victor will turn out to be trying to bring the woman he loves back to life. He succeeds but finds that he only brought back her body as a nigh-invulnerable being but without her original mind but still as articulate and intelligent as the book monster. Victor will lose his mind and try to undo what he's done. The movie will have flashbacks that highlight the difference in behavior.
    • When will people get that that's. Not. How. It. Works! The monster was an Artificial Human. Creating him and actually reviving the dead are two very different things. Frankenstein himself once corrected someone on it by saying "[the monster's] body is not dead. It has never lived." (Sorry if I'm being too harsh, this is just a touchy subject for me)
      • No you aren't being harsh. But given that the original WMG was twists for the movie, it could still work in a middle ground sort of way. The twist implied for Frankenstein's Monster in this Wild Mass Guessing seems to be Orphean Rescue gone horribly wrong.

  • The Mummy: There will be a good mummy who had killed the evil mummy in their previous lives.... Seriously, that's all I got, I don't know what you are still reading this for.
    • Is the good mummy Imhotep or Kharis?

  • The Creature from the Black Lagoon: The Creature will be an alternate descendant of humanity's ancestor that crawled out of the water but evolved through the Demon's power to make it humanoid but still retaining its ability to be on both land and sea. Will be a fast learner to learn how to communicate with humans and probably the only one who can communicate with the Wolf-Man when he's in wolf form.

  • Phantom of the Opera: A case of Our Ghosts Are Different.

Most of the monsters will start as evil in their own movies, before becoming The Atoner when they all meet
With the exception of Adam and Larry, who were pretty much always nice guys. But others, like Dracula, the Mummy, the Invisible Man, etc will be the villains of their own movies before they all end up redeeming themselves.

Dracula will have more powers in the sequel
Over the years he'll learn gypsy magic like the Buffy version. Particularly his trademark Hypnotic Eyes.

Lesser-known universal monsters will also be included
Such as...

The Elder Vampire's true purpose in turning Vlad into a vampire was to kill Mehmet and destroy his army.
  • Why? Because in 1453, Mehmet captured Constantinople and put an end to the Byzantine Empire, a.k.a. the medieval vestige of the Imperium Romanum. After that, Mehmet started calling himself Roman Emperor(in addition to many other titles). Once you find out who the Elder Vampire is supposed to be (and there are copious references to that on This Very Wiki)...You can see how this would not go over well with him.

The Van Helsing of the new movieverse will be a descendant of Dracula
Ingeras and Brother Lucian probably left behind memories, for their families and their order respectively. While both may have sought to protect Vlad's memory at first, in the following centuries they may have discovered that he's still around and the existence of other monsters, and sought to fight or at least keep them under control. During the last centuries Dracula may have confronted some monster hunters without knowing they were related to him. It would also be another plot element coincidentally close to the Castlevania: Lords of Shadow series.

The Elder Vampire didn't tell Dracula about another hidden condition of turning
That after 3 days, not only would Dracula lose his vampiric status, but also die, seeing as the first step in turning is that your body shuts down and dies, Dracula is just a corpse that still moves (and has Dragon Ball Z-level bat powers), on the end of the third day if he hadn't drank blood, he would of just keeled over.

The Demon from who turned Caligula was going to be Set from The Mummy, and Dracula holds some of his powers
  • Dracula Untold was set up to be the first Dark Universe film (until it's lukewarm reception cut it out, and the Dark Universe got scrapped), Bot Nick and Dracula have similar plotlines, being characters turned into monsters by another, more ancient monster, but subverting it by being at least goodish people with troubled pasts, due to Ahmanet being mummified, Set made Caligula into a vampire in order to have a backup, trapping Caligula on broken tooth mountain, and telling him he had to turn someone in order to be free, what Caligula didn't know, was that he was a seal, containing some of Sets powers, and the person Caligula turned would be another vessel for Set to possess, Set was the God of Chaos and Storms what is one of Draculas most notable powers in the film? Control over the weather and conjuring storms to block the sun, None of the other vampires in the film seem to have that ability (otherwise they would have stopped Dracula from doing it.), Dracula only contains a portion of Set's powers, and Nick has the other half, as the rituals were both botched, Nick due to stabbing himself and the daggers jewel being cracked, and Dracula because he took the power for unselfish reasons, if they had continued this plotline it would have been about Set trying to reclaim the powers he lost, and perhaps Nick and Dracula teaming up to stop him.
