The Martians Actually Did Take Over the Earth
My first bit of evidence is the locations you see in the show. A city full of abandoned buildings surrounded by desert. The Martians can make their bases in a boarded up arcade and even an abandoned airplane hangar. Why are all of these things empty? We also know that the Martians have the technology to erase memories. So, what if they wiped the memories of the kids every time they grew suspicious? There are very few people around in this world, and we only see green grass or hear the voices of Mike's parents in one of the first episodes. They might be gone. Most of the world might be gone, but the Martains liked the kids, so they kept them around and erased their memories of the horror they had witnessed. They only kept the places they liked (like the skate park and the fast food place) and destroyed everything else for their emperor! That would also explain Muldoon's overzealous determination to hunt down any and all aliens. He has seen that they have done!Make of it what you will...
