The Narrator is one of the cat guards
  • There's some evidence to support this theory. While his presence could be chalked up to being both a downplayed Combat Commentator and Mr. Exposition, he seems a lot more knowledgeable about things involving the island than the human characters' backstories besides Purrham Furbottom's and his description at the start of the game and what's going on with the Brainwashed and Crazy Hatty is a bit vague compared to when he talks about what happened to Purrham Furbottom. The fact that he can be heard among the voices meowing at the end of the boss area's theme doesn't help.
    • To fix the counterargument of the narrator's anti-cat attitude at times, it could be the narrator letting out a little Self-Deprication for humor and to seem sympathetic to the player/prisoner.
    • Jossed, Pit People reveals the Narrator was actually the giant space bear at the end.

The Narrator is Hatty Hattington
  • I have evidence to support this one. The fact that The Narrator knows so much could be chalked up to having donned the hat and the spirits of its former wearers telling him what had been going on, thus being able to point out the exact reason the way the hat is the way it is. There's also the line of "It all makes sense now" at the end- he's been telling his own story this entire time and had no idea; he has memories before the hat and after coming up from under the ocean and living his life, but doesn't know what happened once the hat went on.
    • Jossed, Pit People reveals the Narrator was actually the giant space bear at the end.
