Most of the "Don't Tell Me" video takes place in either Avril or the guy's imagination
The song and video follow a realistic plot about a guy who she thought cared but only wanted sex, but then the video gets increasingly fanciful, starting with Avril following him out of the apartment and down the street still singing the song and leading into things like her appearing in the windows of random buildings, inside cars in traffic, and on TV (as well as eventually flying). The most logical explanation is Avril didn't actually follow him at all and is still in her room: Either most of the video is "The Reason You Suck" Speech she wished she gave him, or he's slowly realizing what he's done is wrong and now he's imagining her following him around and berating him.
