"I'll do anything for you..."

One day, you're enjoying peace and quiet while sitting on a park bench, when you come across a strange man sitting next to you. Suddenly, he reveals that he wants to be your boyfriend and asks you out to dinner. Despite rejecting or accepting his offer, your paths cross with this eager stranger several times.

And as time goes on, there definitely seems to be more to him than meets the eye...

Your Boyfriend is an 18+ Horror Visual Novel by by the remaining members of Cheshire Cat Studios, including Inverted Mind INC., where you deal with a man's unhealthy desire to have you over the course of five days, no matter who gets hurt.

The demo was first released on September 19th, 2019. There are both SFW and NSFW versions of the game still in development; Days 1, 2, and 3 are available to download from the creator's Patreon as of this writing.

Visit the game's website here and download the demo here.

This visual novel provides examples of:

  • Abusive Parents:
    • Implied by the dialogue Peter says when he mentions his mother.
    • Your roommate Lucy had previously run away from her violent father.
  • Alliterative Name: The diner you work at is called "Dad's Damn Diner!".
  • Animal Motifs: Peter is sometimes rather catlike. He also purrs and his eyes glow in the dark.
  • Art-Style Dissonance: The simplistically blocky character designs will certainly catch a player off-guard considering how dark the game can get.
  • Bald of Evil: Unlike the other characters you meet, there is no visible hair on Peter's head.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Peter appears to be a nice, if a bit awkward, young man. But then his true colors start to show...
  • Bland-Name Product: You can play a platforming game on your GameDaddy.
  • Content Warnings: "This game contains explicit images and content that may be disturbing or triggering to some audiences." Additional warnings listed on the website include: murder, gore, drug use, kidnapping, and non-consensual intimacy.
  • Cranky Landlord: Don Williams, the player's landlord, spends most of his screen-time with agitation towards tenants delaying their rent.
  • Developer's Foresight: If you decide to nickname Peter...
  • Do Not Call Me "Paul": The Boyfriend hates his birth name of "Peter".
  • Drowning My Sorrows: Lucy says to you that she was planning to drink after being told off by Don for not paying rent again.
  • Exhausted Eyebags: Peter has very visible dark circles under his eyes.
  • Faux Affably Evil: Peter gleefully calls you "darling" even as he kidnaps you.
  • Featureless Protagonist: Despite the player character having a rough design and working at the Diner, "Y/N" is otherwise completely featureless, because they are your representation in the game.
  • Fetishized Abuser: Deconstructed. Peter, the eager stranger you meet, follows nearly every trope of the typical fetishized abuser — he's the protagonist's main Love Interest, outwardly charming, obsessive, a Crazy Jealous Guy, a Yandere, and has a dry sense of humor. The Visual Novel shows how frightening and dangerous having such a person being "in love" with you truly is.
  • Flower Motifs: Red roses are significant because they're a gift from Peter he gives you on your first date. If you initially refused the date and then bump into him again in the flower shop, he'll offer you a rose again.
  • Gender-Inclusive Writing:
    • Y/N's gender isn't specified. Justified, as Y/N is meant to represent the actual player and thus their gender by extension.
    • Your coworker at the diner, TK, goes by they/them pronouns.
  • Greasy Spoon: The diner you work at is referred to as such.
  • Glowing Eyes of Doom: Peter has them.
  • Hello, [Insert Name Here]: You get to name the protagonist and The Boyfriend; however, the latter's real name is actually "Peter".
  • Icy Blue Eyes: Peter has blue eyes, and he definitely isn't one of the good guys.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Don is a cranky, stern landlord, but he shows concern for the player knowing how overworked they are trying to compensate their own and roommate's rent.
  • Jumpscare: When you start the game or start the next day, there is a chance that there will be a scene of a sudden shriek as Peter's sinister face appears on a red screen.
  • Medium Awareness: Peter is aware that he is in a video game.
  • Morton's Fork: No matter how you act towards him or what choices you select, Peter will always end up becoming your stalker.
  • Multiple Endings: Planned for when the full game is released.
  • Must Have Nicotine: Peter is a smoker.
  • Not Distracted by the Sexy: No one who engages with Lucy on-screen is shown to be stirred by her sensual behaviour - not you, Peter, or Don. This doesn't particularly bother her though.
  • One Head Taller: Regardless of your gender, Peter is always shown in official art to be considerably taller than you. Word of God says he's around 6'4 and 6'5.
  • Overly-Long Tongue: Peter is shown to have an inhumanly long tongue.
  • Pink Girl, Blue Boy: Boyfriend (Peter) wears blue, his sister Girlfriend (Sarah) wears pink.
  • Psycho Knife Nut: Peter's weapon is a knife.
  • Scary Teeth: Peter has jaws full of razor-sharp teeth that he loves to show off when doing his Slasher Smile. He once said he frequently bites his tongue because they're so sharp.
  • Sibling Rivalry: Peter, the Boyfriend, has a younger sister named Sarah, otherwise known as the Girlfriend. The two hate each other because they're both competing for your love.
  • Slasher Smile: Peter could sure give Strade a run for his money.
  • Stalker with a Crush: Peter, natch. He has zero boundary issues who resorts to sneaking into your room, whether you return his affections or not.
  • Tall, Dark, and Snarky: Peter, and Don, your landlord.
  • The Stoner: Lucy is shown at one point retrieving a packet of weed from the kitchen.
  • Video Game Caring Potential: You can act nice towards Peter...
  • Video Game Cruelty Potential: ...Or you can be an asshole towards him instead. However, there is a path where you can be somewhere in-between with your actions.
  • Yandere: Peter, who will do absolutely anything to "earn" your love.
  • You're Insane!: You can tell this to Peter near the end of Day 3 after he confesses to murder, but he has no interest in hearing it. He knows he's mad, and it's because of you.
