The adventure begins.
Tavern of Spear is an adult Furry Bara H-Game created by Caro using the Ren'py Engine. The game was officially released as a demo on July 26, 2019.

Eyvind is a young wolf from the Lost Spear Tribe. A year ago, following a tribal tradition, he left home and set out on a journey to prove himself as an adventurer.

However, following his latest travel through a forest, he becomes an unwilling occupant of a tavern due to a magical fog surrounding the area, preventing anyone within the vicinity from leaving. He now has to find some way to escape the foggy forest, but this proves to be much easier said than done as he finds himself caught in the middle of the affairs of other trapped residents.

Even this seems to be the least of his problems though, because as he ventures onward, it becomes apparent that there's something much more sinister brewing in the background...

The gameplay is an adventure Visual Novel with RPG mechanics like stat checks, and stat points you can assign to the skills you want.

It's currently ongoing.

Tavern of Spear provides examples of:

  • All Gays are Promiscuous: Averted with everyone except Witer and possibly Eyvind.
  • Arc Villain: The nameless chameleon, who kidnapped the lizard and bull tribe's children and framed the other side for it.
  • Bara Genre: Let's just say it would be easier to count the number of characters who aren't totally jacked.
  • Big Beautiful Man: Both Axel and Einar have some large bellies, despite the rest of their muscled physiques.
  • Bigfoot, Sasquatch, and Yeti: Yetis are enemies that can be found while in the snow mountain.
  • Brutish Bulls: Very much averted with the bull tribe and Thane especially. They care deeply for each another and have a civilized culture. The once cordial relationship they had with the lizards ceased only because of a situation beyond their control. That being said, they can be pretty hotheaded at times.
  • Cast Full of Gay: Downplayed. While quite a few of the male characters are presented as such, Snow's current love is a woman, Parif is (or was) married with children, and Ebb and Flo's sexualities are left in the open.
  • Court Jester: One of the spirits encountered is a non-malicious but creepy court jester inhabiting the ruins of a castle he once entertained in.
  • Crossover: Roushk from Lustful Desires will make an appearance, having been transported from Aigran to the world of Tavern of Spear.
  • Death of a Child: Invoked. The reason for the conflict between the lizard and bull tribes is that they claim the other kidnapped and killed their children. However, they're actually being held captive by a chameleon, who anticipated this would be their reaction.
  • Eating the Eye Candy:
    • Eyvind sometimes finds himself ogling attractive men.
    • Bread implies as much when remembering how the other knights walked around in their underwear in the barracks.
  • Equipment Upgrade: The attack potency of Eyvind's sword can be increased by upgrading it with the anvil in the barn or at the snow village's forge.
  • Exposed to the Elements:
    • Subverted when fighting in the snow mountain. Not wearing the proper clothing will reward cold damage each passing turn and in his first attempt at climbing it, Eyvind states he regrets not putting on more clothing.
    • Played Straight, in that he won't complain at all about the frigid temperature even if he spends hours fishing or searching for ingredients in nothing but his loincloth.
  • Fetch Quest: There are a lot of these, especially from Chet.
  • Fishing Episode: Eyvind can accompany Snow on one of his fishing trips.
  • Friends with Benefits: Hakan, Thane, Witer, Nauxus and Axel can all have this relationship with Eyvind. However, it's obvious Thane and Nauxus want something more.
  • Furry Confusion: Regular cows exist alongside the bull tribe in the setting and Horace, a stallion, exists alongside regular horses. However, said horses are implied to be mares and there's a female bull NPC. Apparently, the female counterparts of certain animals are of a different race than the males.
  • Gotta Catch Them All: The Skull Emblem retrieved from the skull demon. The Soul Emblem bought in a demon auction. The Star Emblem that's in Nauxus's possession. The Sprout Emblem in Atahkakoop's possession. The unnamed emblems Selye collected, and the others yet to be uncovered. For reasons unknown Selye wanted them all and after his failed ambush on Eyvind to get the one(s) in his possession, Eyvind, having witnessed their magical properties, makes it his mission in tracking them down, believing they might be the key to permanently dealing with the fog.
  • Guide Dang It!: To get the best ending in the tribal war with the least casualties, you have to stay neutral and work with Thane to undermine both sides' efforts, during the auction in the demon city to buy Flo, you have to buy the Soul Emblem and after Thane's been hurt, you have to go to the temple and into its room with paintings to uncover the truth behind the kidnappings.
  • Heel–Face Turn: In his route, you can spare Seyle and have him join the Tavern of Spear.
  • Hello, [Insert Name Here]: You can name the protagonist whatever you want, but his default name is Eyvind.
  • Honey Trap:
    • The lizard tribe has developed seduction techniques against their enemies exactly for this purpose; putting them into a lustful bliss and then finishing them off... or taking advantage of the situation.
    • Almost every enemy, sans machines and spirits, of course, will be able to utilize this tactic as well.
  • Horned Humanoid: The bull tribe.
  • Humongous Mecha: The boss battle for the snow mountain dungeon. It's big, durable, hits hard, and if you're not careful, will end up decapitating you.
  • It Was a Dark and Stormy Night: The game begins on a rainy night. It's what causes Eyvind to scramble for shelter and inadvertently find the tavern.
  • Karma Houdini: The chameleon can be this if a neutral route isn't done. Not only do they get away with kidnapping the bull and lizard tribes' children and instigating a tribal war, but since the only person who knows they even exist will end up dead and nobody has any reason to further investigate the matter it's unlikely the truth will ever be uncovered.
  • Keep the Reward: An option when helping Witer wash everyone's clothes.
  • Kill and Replace: In the Bull route, it is heavily implied Thane was killed by the chameleon and it's now masquerading as him.
  • Killed Off for Real: Depending on your choices Ebb, Flo, Bread, Thane, Axel and Nauxus can all end up dead.
  • Killed Offscreen: Since Eyvind will note that the kids are barely hanging on by the time he finds them in the neutral route, it's most likely they died from malnutrition at some point after the Lizard/Bull route where they're never found.
  • Last of His Kind: If he isn't killed, Bread will be the only one still alive from Aplista.
  • Lizard Folk: The lizard tribe fits this to an obvious T.
  • Love Triangle: Potentially with Eyvind, Thane, Nauxus if the latter two are both alive and Nauxus still likes Eyvind.
  • Man Versus Machine: Or in this case Beast vs. Machine. One of the dungeons is filled with hostile machines you and Rasmus will have to face off against.
  • Mirror Boss: One of the bosses is a shapeshifting chameleon. He'll shapeshift into the player and fight exactly like them with the same abilities and items.
  • Ominous Fog: The thick fog surrounding the forest and keeping everyone imprisoned is like a living being who won’t let anyone enter or exit the area unless when it so chooses.
  • Porn with Plot: There's a decent amount of sexual content and one of the game mechanics is seducing your enemies, but sex is optional for the most part, with it being possible to skip them altogether. The focus is more on Eyvind's journey in the forest and the people he meets and interacts with along the way than smut.
  • Public Bathhouse Scene: After either saving or failing to save Flo, Snow will reopen the bathhouse in the back of the tavern. It can be used to spend time with several characters.
  • Reptiles Are Abhorrent: Zigzagged. Nauxus and the tribe he leads aren't evil, but just have the misfortune of being put against the bull tribe by an outside force and Witer is an overall friendly flirt. The rogue lizards in the swamp, the chamelon and Selye on the other hand are very much this.
  • The Sleepless: Sleeping and resting are ways to restore health and mana, but there are no consequences to staying up all night for days on out. The only time this is remotely subverted is if you choose to stay up and help Einar with his paperwork.
  • Somewhere, a Mammalogist Is Crying: Eyvind can't explore the snow mountain at night because of the frigid temperature and will be hurt by the cold in battle if he's only wearing a loincloth. Wolves, however, can live in temperatures as low as -40°F, because of their fur, so the mountain's coldness shouldn't hinder them that much, if at all.
  • STD Immunity: No condoms are present in any sex scene and none of the characters appear to be worried about it. This is especially notable with Witer, whose side job is sleeping with men.
  • Time Skip: A strange variant. When Eyvind returns to the tavern from the snow mountain village, he's informed by the others six months have passed in the forest for them, while only a few days up in the mountains have passed for him. Meko theorizes whoever created the fog has the power to manipulate time within the area to their will.
  • Title Drop:
Snow: Well, this is the Tavern of Spear, we provide meals and a warm bed for anyone who can afford it.
  • Too Dumb to Live: When accompanying Rasmus to a dungeon for his Warrior's Passage, one of the options for handling the machine enemies is seducing them. It goes about as well as you expect.
  • Turn-Based Combat: You're given the option of either attacking your opponents to reduce their health to zero or seducing them until they're too horny to want to fight.
  • Underground City: There are three examples. Venturing into a cave in search of Flo, you'll find the remains of the ancient kingdom of Aplista, and going deeper into its castle will lead to a city of demons led by Cerberus himself! The last is a city of underground dwellers up in the snow mountain led by Atahkakoop.
  • Worthless Currency: The coins you use as a currency will be useless in the city of demons, forcing you to acquire Bevocr by taking odd jobs from the residences.
  • You Lose at Zero Trust:
    • After Thane's seriously injured by the chameleon, his father, will have three lizard prisoners executed in a fit of rage and can only be talked out of if you had visited the bull camp after the festival and have enough trust built between each other.
    • In the neutral route, if the bull tribe was favored more in your double dealings with Thane, Nauxus will not give you, much less admit the existence of, his Star Emblem. He'll also lose the feelings he had for you, ending any chance for a romantic resolution.
