Kamaitachi no Yoru 2 (かまいたちの夜 — The Night of the Sickle Weasel 2) is a PlayStation 2 game published and sold in Japan by Chunsoft (now known as Spike Chunsoft) in 2002 with a The Best version sold in 2003. It was later ported to the PlayStation Portable courtesy of Sega as Kamaitachi no Yoru 2 Tokubetsu Hen, which later got a The Best version released in 2007. It later got ported via Playstation Store in 2012. While the game is a numbered sequel to Banshee's Last Cry, it is NOT a continuation of the first game. The game itself is followed by a sequel known as Kamaitachi no Yoru 3 (or Kamaitachi no Yoru Triple).

The game takes place in a world Like Reality, Unless Noted where the first Kamaitachi no Yoru was made as a game like in real life. Novelist Takemaru Abiko wanted to celebrate the success of the game, based on one of his old novels. it was released with Tōru Yajima and Mari Kobayashi as the main protagonists, two persons who Abiko used in terms of names and likeness for the game. The two were invited by Abiko to celebrate at his mansion in Mikazuki Island alongside other people, who were used as the basis of the KnY game.

After Tōru and Mari arrived at the island with the other guests, Abiko mysteriously disappeared. Tōru, Mari and the other guests need to figure out what happened to Abiko and who's trying to kill off the guests.

The game contains examples of:

  • All There in the Manual: The official website, guidebooks and in-game dialogue gives out information on the characters involved.
  • Anyone Can Die: If you go down one path to solve a case, expect a few characters to die along the way. Other characters can die if you play a case from another angle.
  • Deserted Island: Mikazuki Island becomes a deserted island after Abiko goes missing and some of the guests are killed by a serial killer if Tōru can't figure out who the culprit is.
  • Earn Your Bad Ending: If you're a completionist, you need to something stupid to earn some of the endings that can get you killed.
  • Nosebleed: Happens with Toru when he sees Mari on the beach wearing a bikini. He finds her sexy and thanks the gods for allowing it to happen.
  • Nothing Is Scarier: Especially if you're investigating the incidents that has a supernatural angle.
  • Survival Horror: One of the game's themes if a supernatural angle is played out. Since it's a visual novel, you need to make the right choice so that Tōru can make progress and investigate on what happened to Abiko.
