Wolf's Gang is an indie RPG made by developer Caz using RPG Maker MZ and released in 2020. The game is a Perspective Flip on the standard "humans vs. monsters" conflict of RPGs, telling the story from the monsters' point of view.

Wolfgang is a Wolf Man who lives with his monster friends on Floor 5 of the Dark Lord's Tower. On his birthday, the celebrations are interrupted by a group of heroes who storm the place and attack the monsters. After being thrown from the tower and knocked unconscious, Wolfgang wakes up to find that his home has been destroyed and most of the monsters have been killed. Promising to avenge his fallen friends, he joins forces with the skeleton Scarlet, a resident of Floor 89 (which, as Wolfgang puts it, makes her "like a celebrity") and begins his quest to recruit an army and take revenge on the heroes.

The game is available for free on Steam. Its page can be found here.

Wolf's Gang contains examples of:

  • Absurdly Spacious Sewer: The Goodhero City Sewer is a fully explorable area that's spacious enough to walk around and have battles in.
  • Birthday Beginning: The game opens on Wolfgang's birthday, with his friends throwing him a party at the tower.
  • Blob Monster: Wolfgang's army includes several slimes, one of whom, Simon, is a playable party member. Fittingly, considering what he is, he can't use weapons or most kinds of equipment.
  • Cycle of Revenge: Deconstructed. After learning of Ralph's reason for killing the Dark Lord, Wolfgang realizes that monsters and humans have been killing each other senselessly in a cycle of revenge for centuries without even remembering who started it. The two of them then promise to finally have the two races put everything behind them and work together from then on.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: The monsters. Wolfgang himself is a wolfman while his friends include skeletons, slimes and lizardmen, and their former home was a tower ruled by the Dark Lord. Despite this, all they wanted was to live their lives there in peace before the humans attacked. Possibly subverted with the Dark Lord himself, as he did murder Ralph's parents.
  • The Ghost: The Dark Lord is never actually seen, as he is Killed Offscreen by the heroes at the very start.
  • Mirror Character: At the end, Ralph reveals that he and his friends were out to kill the Dark Lord for revenge, meaning that despite being enemies, he and Wolfgang had largely the same goal.
  • Nice Guy: Wolfgang is polite, humble, loves animals, and is always willing to reach out to any monsters in need.
  • No Name Given: The non-playable monsters are simply referred to by the name of their species, such as Lizard, Slime or Skeleton.
  • Perspective Flip: The main idea of the game. The player characters are typical RPG monsters such as a Wolf Man, a skeleton and a minotaur, while the humans are the enemies.
  • Pre-existing Encounters: All battles in the game are like this. Enemies like adventurers walk around in the overworld and initiate encounters if the player comes into contact with them.
  • Wonderful Werewolf: Wolfgang is a wolfman, the hero of the game, and very kindhearted.
