When Yanderes Cry is a horror RPG game released on May 9, 2016. It was made by Kousuke-shii.

You play as a young man named Nishiki Kitamura. Nishiki is an average high school student who is known for his kindness towards other people. The thing is, Nishiki had a childhood friend who’s been his love interest a very long time ago. After years and years of mustering up the courage to confess to his childhood best friend, he did. That was the start of beautiful new chapter in Nishiki’s life. But of course like any other fairy tale, some people doesn’t seem to be thrilled by this idea.

When Yanderes Cry provides examples of:

  • Batter Up!: This can be found if you use the axe to break a box in the storage room. Just like the axe is used to destroy doors, this can be used to destroy a window to achieve an ending.
  • Chick Magnet: Nishiki has four Yandere girls pursuing him and he does not enjoy the attention he receives.
  • Childhood Friend Romance: Nishiki and Mai have know each other for years and confess their love for one another. However, it never comes to be because of the four Yandere girls.
  • Clingy Jealous Girl: The Madame was insanely jealous of her husband hitting on the maids. It was so bad that she ended up killing the maids, including Umi, and her husband.
  • Declaration of Protection: Akiko promises to protect Nishiki in her ending.
  • Downer Ending: Not matter who you choose, Nishiki is going to die.
    • The creator has stated that they may provide another ending.
  • Flat Character: The yandere girls don't have anything beyond their obsession with Nishiki. A token trait with Yandere characters is their tragic past and their doting nature.
  • Game Over: This will happen if you sit down in a chair, open one of the books in the library, look in the well, look down the wrong hole in the floor or get cornered by a shadowy figure. Not that it matters since Nishiki will be killed in every other ending.
  • The Hero Dies: Nishiki will be killed in every ending you choose.
  • If I Can't Have You…:
    • Every ending involves Nishiki getting stabbed by whoever he chooses.
    • The woman that Umi worked for ended up killing her husband in a jealous rage.
  • I Let Gwen Stacy Die: Nishiki blames himself for Mai's death in the first ending.
  • Ironic Name: One of the meanings for "Kira" is "killer".
  • Multiple Endings: There are four endings available, all which leads to Nishiki being killed by one of the girls. One ending has be killed by all four.
  • Murder the Hypotenuse: The game starts with Nishiki finding Akiko and Sunako had killed Mai who they saw as an obstacle between them and Nishiki. Yuna also expresses joy when she learns that Mai was killed.
  • Old, Dark House: The primary setting is in the Versailles Mansion, which was probably abandoned in the 1930's.
  • Psychotic Love Triangle: More like pentagon. Nishiki is pursued by four Yandere girls who killed his girlfriend out of jealousy.
  • Shout-Out: A few.
    • The title itself is a reference to When They Cry. There’s also a book written by a Reina Ryugu, which sounds very close to the main girl’s name “Rena Ryugu”.
    • Yuna's name sounds a lot like Yuno. Not to mention that she's also a Rose-Haired Sweetie.
    • Kira could be one for this Kira.
  • Suicide by Cop: If Nishiki doesn't escape from the room, he asks for the girls to kill him because he's given up on trying to escape.
  • Unlucky Every Dude: Nishiki was a normal high school student who just started dating his Childhood Friend before all of the Yandere girls showed up.
  • Unwanted Harem: Nishiki isn't okay with having four insane girls chasing after him.
  • Yandere:
    • The four main girls (Akiko, Kira, Yuna, and Sunako) are this for Nishiki. They all love him, but they couldn’t stand to see him with Mai and killed her so they could have a chance with Nishiki.
    • Umi's notes imply that the woman she worked for was this. She was furious with her husband possibly flirting with the maids and she lashed out at them. Her jealousy eventually became too much and it resulted in killing her husband.
