Only the sweetest of computer viruses.

VS Virus R is a Game Mod for Friday Night Funkin' primarily developed by KuronoR, Rabbit's foot, QingXuan, Azure, LC, Toast Fish, Mengfu, and star. Despite technically being a "new week" mod, it actually has a larger-than-usual song count for a week at 5 main songs.

Boyfriend and Girlfriend are up to accidental shenanigans again, having been suddenly transported through a TV into an unknown cyberspace dimension. There, they meet a computer virus that tries to attack them in self-defense, but Boyfriend (being Boyfriend) manages to diffuse it into a simple rap battle.

Song list:

    open/close all folders

    Week 0
  • Malfunction (R vs BF)
  • Invade (R vs BF)
  • R Memory (R vs BF)
  • Warning (Ask vs BF)
  • The Battle Of Robbery (Ask vs BF)

    Week 1
  • Virus R (R vs the player)

"She is a virus, never meant to exist in the system. This alone, is enough for her tropes."

  • Ambiguous Situation: What exactly is Ask? Is he a human that had entered cyberspace like Boyfriend and Girlfriend, or is he a piece of anti-virus software? The latter would explain his apparent Fantastic Racism against R, but it's not made entirely clear.
  • Apocalypse Maiden: Obviously, being a sentient computer virus within the datascape, R is this. Her virus aura passively screws things up when not controlled, which is why she's on the run from any programs the system sends after her.
  • Black Eyes of Crazy: R has these in her true virus form... but it's actually subverted, as "R Memory" is the main week song where R is at her most chill.
  • Episode Zero: The Beginning: The first/main week is referred to as "Week 0", as opposed to the more standard "Week 1".
  • Exotic Eye Designs: While only clearly visible in close-up shots, R's eyes have a Black★Rock Shooter-esque concentric ring pattern.
  • Fantastic Racism: After Boyfriend asks... well, Ask why he's trying to capture R when she did nothing wrong, Ask replies that simply her being a virus is enough of a crime.
  • The Fourth Wall Will Not Protect You: Heavily downplayed due to R being a total sweetheart, but she actively refers to the player at the end of the main week. And then in the extra week's single song, she pulls a Monika and rap battles the player as opposed to Boyfriend, up to and including borrowing Boyfriend's vocals for the occasion.
  • Innocent Fanservice Girl: While it could be that she simply doesn't care rather than not knowing, R is still an incredibly attractive young lady with a short crop-top, long legs, and (atleast in close-ups) enough bust to cause a bit of breast bounce when she bounces around on the title screen. Her true form could possibly be seen as even more fanservice-y, with a leotard, a small window for her belly button on said leotard, long fingerless gloves, and her former knee-high socks being swapped out for toeless thigh-highs.
  • Interface Screw: An audio version. During a good part of "The Battle Of Robbery", Ask and Boyfriend's vocals are muted, and with the opponent's animations changing in tandem, this briefly turns the rap battle into a dance-off.
  • One-Winged Angel: R enters her true form as a virus in "R Memory", but despite the usual connotations of this in Friday Night Funkin' mods, she's by far at her calmest at this point in the story, no longer trying to take Boyfriend down and simply rapping for the sake of it.
  • Power Floats: R's feet never touch the ground during "R Memory", which is appropriate, given she had just unleashed her true virus form and is thus likely far more powerful.
