What will you do on the last 4 days of your summer holiday?
VOCALOID no Natsuyasumi note  -Final 4 Days- is a Vocaloid fan-game by haco made in RPG Maker 2000. It is an RPG that focused on exploration. It has a battle system that plays similarly with rhythm games with three icons; Leek makes Miku attack, Red Shield is to defend against the enemy's attack, and Green Shield makes Miku recovers her HP (and MP if the timing is Perfect). This fan game was announced back in 2009 and planned to be released in 2013, but it got stuck in Development Hell before it was finally saw release in 2020.

Miku and her friends are staying on Meiko's home in the countryside for their summer vacation. With 4 days left, Miku must decide how the remaining time spent. However, by the Third Day where the Vocaloids decide to visit a neighboring city, certain shady individuals start to put their plan into motion...

This game is available for free at Freem here

This game provides examples of:

  • A-Cup Angst: When Miku describes Black Miku to Kaito after she loses the boss fight, she said that the later looks like her, except "she has something Miku did not have", which clearly refers to her breasts. Kaito said Miku's still pretty even with that shortcoming, which earned him a smack.
  • After-Combat Recovery: Miku fully recovers her HP and MP at the end of every battle.
  • Armor-Piercing Attack: Kagamine Cannon and Freeze Burst bypass the enemy's defense to deal full damage. This attribute make the former incredibly useful against Yuki.
  • Awesome, but Impractical:
    • Freeze Burst ignores defense and stops the Red Shields, but its damage is weaker and cost more MP than Kagamine Cannon, its stop duration is shorter than Icicles, and it requires Kaito and the Kagamines in the party, which only happen in the final battle of certain routes.
    • Kagamine Cannon itself also this, as it cost MP the most from any skills. There's a key item that cut its cost to make it more manageable, but said item are from a certain route that's harder to figure out than most, plus the item is apparently bugged as it disappeared from the inventory after performing a reset.
  • Badass Normal: Even if she's just a regular singing android without any programmed combat function, Meiko is more than capable to protect the Department Store during the slimes' attack on the city.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: In Ending 1 and Ending 2, Miku and friends fail to stop Kiyoteru and Yuki from broadcast their computer virus on Crypton's Main Computer
  • Blob Monster: the alien slimes has amorphous body and can shapeshift, with the King in particular assumes Kaito's appearance when joining Miku and the Kagamines to the city. They mainly getting their energy via photosynthesis, though they also loves sweet foods.
  • Cast from Hit Points: Unlike other attacks, the Electro skill costs HP instead of MP.
  • Cicadian Rhythm : You can hear the singing sound of cicadas if you go to the forest in day.
  • Chekhov's Gun:
    • In the tutorial, it's mentioned that Miku's battle program is still on a test and Crypton asking her to train in regular basis even on holiday. Miku ended up slacking for the most part, until August 30th where the villains decided it's time to unleash their plan.
    • If you in the Forest Route on Day 2, entered the caves, and go down to the southern end that leads to another part of the toilet dungeon, during dinner Meiko mentioned the dungeon also has other path that leads to the garden. This plays an important role for achieving Ending 6 in subsequent runs, as you came in time to Meiko's house just before Kiyoteru and Yuki attack the adults.
  • Comedic Underwear Exposure: In the route where Kiyoteru and Yuki kidnaps Kaito and Len, when Miku and Rin goes inside the abandoned building to rescue Len, he pulls Kiyoteru's leg in an effort to restrain him and accidentally pulls down his pants. After a moment of Stunned Silence from everyone present, Kiyoteru flees and keeps on his boxers for the remainder of the run.
  • Combination Attack: They are carried over to subsequent runs when unlocked.
    • Kagamine Cannon has Miku and both the Kagamines make fireballs raining on the enemy. It ignores defense and could be permanently powered up by consuming Orange or Banana Juice while Rin and Len are with Miku. Its MP comsumption could be reduced if you has certain key item.
    • Icicles has Miku and Kaito launch barrages of icicles. It halts the enemy's turn until its animation ends.
    • Freeze Burst sets off icy explosions at the arena. Only usable when the Kagamines AND Kaito are present (only in the final battle in certain routes ) and it ignores defense and stops enemy's turn.
  • Cooldown Manipulation: An attack that causes "Break" instantly deletes all of Leek icons on the screen. Miku could inflict this to an enemy in turn with the skill Hatsune Break.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: When Rin caught Len trying to copy her homework, she retaliates with smacking him several times.
  • Ding-Dong-Ditch Distraction: You can do this to a house owned by a villager named Alex by ringing its bell (knocking does nothing). If you have the Scarecrow item, you can set it on a small hole on the road to distract Alex so you can sneak into the house.
  • Eating Machine: The Vocaloids are explicitly mentioned as androids in this game, yet they still have the need to eat.
  • Fictional Counterpart: Crypton Android Media is obviously based on Crypton Future Media.
  • Fire-Breathing Diner: Rin, Len, and Kaito suffer from this as they try to eat the Level 99 spice ramen in Day Three.
  • For Doom the Bell Tolls: If you satisfy the requirement to trigger the encounter with Shiteyan'yo, Miku would find herself wake up all alone. The music was completely silent, except for the ominous ringing sound of a church bell.
  • Gemstone Assault: The Hatsune Break skill has Miku pelting her enemies with blue crystals.
  • Guide Dang It!: Due to the exploration nature of the game, some of its contents come off as this:
    • The key to open the toilet and entering the dungeon within is only available when Len has gone hiding, but BEFORE you found him. The dungeon is required for the Forest route on Day 2 and to open the toilet containing the Gun Form in Alex's home.
    • Finding Haku's house in the forest. Its entrance is hidden really well and no, it doesn't involve entering into the caves.
    • Finding the other forms. Gun and Append at least have clues in the Library (available in Third Day); the only hint (if subtle) to find Alien are from the VOCALOID2 database.
  • Guilt by Association Gag: Meiko punishes Gakupo alongside Kaito just because he was beside Kaito (dragged along unwillingly, no less) when the later doing his embarrassing antics in the town.
  • Harmless Freezing:
    • In the Alien Kingdom, one of the local resident is a drinks seller and offering a sample to Miku and the Kagamines. As they try it, they promptly frozen into ice statues due to its sheer cold, though it was completely harmless. The seller still apologizes later, though.
    • After the final battle that leads to Ending 5, Rin and Len cast Kagamine Cannon to thaw Meiko out whom got frozen by Kiyoteru and Yuki's assault on her house. She's fine, if felt a bit cold.
  • Heal Thyself: At level 10, Miku learns Negi Healing, which recovers your HP based on your timing.
  • Healing Boss: One of the enemy Vocaloids, Yuki, has a healing skill. Since they also has a defense-boosting skill, this may cause a Healing Loop if Miku isn't equipped with Electro (3x damage against mech enemies including Vocaloids) or Kagamine Cannon (ignores defense boosts).
  • Hellish Horse: The last enemy that you face in the Battle Simulator in Crypton HQ is this. It's the most powerful of them all and can quickly deplete Miku's HP if your timings is rather lousy.
  • Hopeless Boss Fight: The encounter with Shiteyan'yo is this, since the boss is immune to all of your attack.
  • The Internet Is for Cats: A plot point. The villains love cats and they want to hijack the Main Computer at the Crypton HQ to install a virus that makes all computers and phones in the world plays cat videos and replace their ringtones with cat sounds.
  • Light 'em Up: Miku in her Append form shoots bullets of light.
  • Megaton Punch: Meiko delivers one to Kaito after he insulted her too many as "Bakaito".
  • Mook Chivalry: A necessity because of the engine's limitation. If you face against multiple enemies (only happens in Day 3), they fight Miku one at a time.
  • Motor Mouth: If you choose "Consult to Wikip_dia" when helping Rin complete her homework, Miku quotes a paragraph with very fast manner until Len interrupted. Amazingly, Rin is fast enough to write all of them down.
  • Musical Assassin: Miku can sing to damage an enemy with the Sound Dust skill. However, beware that enemy Vocaloid is immune from it.
  • Naked People Are Funny: In one route, Kaito, or rather, his alter ego "Bakaito" (Idiot Kaito), causing ruckus in the neighborhood whilst wearing nothing but his scarf.
  • New Game Plus: When you perform a reset in the 4th Day, you can carry over skills that aren't from level-up, any juice still in the refrigerator, and all forms you've unlocked to the new run. If you have certain key items in the inventory, you can transfer your current level and money too.
  • No Time to Explain: If you're not entering the toilet dungeon, later in the day Miku is looking for Gakupo in the forest. When she return to the town, the Kagamines said this and brought her to the local market. Turns out Gakupo is unwillingly dragged along in Kaito's shenanigans as Bakaito.
  • No-Sell:
    • Enemy Vocaloids are immune to Miku's Sound Dust, a big deal because all of them are bosses.
    • If you get a "Perfect" timing on the Red Shields, Miku take no damage from the enemy's attack.
  • Psi Blast: The Alien Form's signature attack unleashes psychic blast to the enemy.
  • Rare Candy: The juices you can bought from vending machines are this. Their effect are permanent and carried over to next playthrough:
    • The Leek Juice increases your max HP by 5 points.
    • The Banana and Orange Juice boost the base power of Kagamine Cannon. However, Len (for the former) and Rin (for the later) must be present when you use it; it has no effect if Miku drank it herself.
    • The Eggplant Juice has no effect by itself, but if you has the Eggplant Club Card key item (given by Gakupo), you can activate the feature available at Fourth Day to make it boost MP by 1-5 points in subsequent runs.
  • Robot Wizard: Apparenty, Miku's skills are magic-based despite of her being an android. This also applies to the Kagamines and Kaito.
  • Route Boss: The Beach route of Day 2 has a mandatory boss fight against a Living Statue.
  • Swiss-Army Weapon: The Leek Saber can change function depends what form Miku's currently in. For Append Form, Miku instead merges with the Saber.
    • In Sword Form, it become a sword capable of launching Razor Wind.
    • In Gun Form, the Saber turns into a rifle that shoot explosive rounds.
    • In Alien Form, it become an antenna on Miku's head and grants her Psychic Powers.
  • Story Branching: In this game, your choices may causes the story of current run changes, either major or minor. Some of the major ones:
    • How you found Len when asked by Gakupo in the 1st Day determines where Miku will spend the 2nd Day. One leads to the Forest route, while the another leads to the Beach route.
    • When Miku and the Kagamines decided to visit the internet cafe in the Beach Route, you can challenge and then lose to Black Miku, which makes Miku's body broke down and must be repaired on the Crypton HQ.
    • If you trigger the encounter with Shiteyan'yo, at the morning Miku found herself and Rin wake up late, with the other Vocaloids already on their way to the city. This leads to a route where Miku and Rin visit the Cake Shop and unlocks the Heart Chocolate key item, while Len and Kaito fall for the villains' trap.
    • If you have the Waterproof perk (unlocked after talked to the Crypton Main Head and had seen 2 endings), you can dive into the flooded room in the Seaside Well, which leads to the Alien Kingdom.
  • Surprise Party: The game ends in Fourth Day (August 31st) when the other Vocaloids throwing a birthday party for Miku at 00:00 AM.
  • Situational Damage Attack: Normally, Miku's Electro attack (learned at level 18) deals 1.5x damage, which is rather unimpressive compared to Kagamine Cannon or the upgraded version of the forms' signature attacks. However, against mech enemies, it deals 3x damage of Miku's base attack, which including many of the bosses.
  • Unaffected by Spice: Meiko has no problem eating the level 99 ramen, which is hellishly spicy.
  • Upgrade vs. Prototype Fight: Applies if you decided to challenge Black Miku in the Internet Cafe. if you lose, in Day Three you learn at the Crypton H Qs that Black Miku is a combat android based on Miku's blueprint, making the former the upgrade and the later the prototype combat-wise.
  • True Final Boss: Kiyoteru, the Big Bad themself, who only fought by Miku in routes leading to Ending 4 and 6. They will put your timing on test, since they had powerful attacks that could easily deal serious damage if you had bad timing AND an attack that cause Break if isn't successfully blocked.
