Break the mother computer!
Push on with Operation: Thunderstorm!
Arcade Flyer
Varth: Operation Thunderstorm is a Capcom arcade game set on the Planet Varth where humans colonized it and built the 6th generation computer DELTA-7 to aid their everyday needs. But this took a turn for the attrocious when the otherworldly being DUO arrived and took the computer over. The entity turned DELTA-7 on mankind and aims to finish where it started after having 80% of the humans on Varth exterminated in a war.

It's up to Casber Rulan and Felry Carnihum to take planes with computers made two generations too early for DELTA-7 to control and destroy the computer before it kills what is left of mankind.

Varth: Operation Thunderstorm contains the following tropes:

  • Action Girl: Felry Carnihum is an ace fighter pilot for the resistance and, while she had no prior battle experience, is determined, alongside Casber Rublan, to end DUO's threat and save mankind
  • Big Bad: DUO took over DELTA-7 and orchestrated a two-stage plan to exterminate all humans on Varth. First it manipulated mankind into war then orders the remaining 20% to be exterminated.
  • Bittersweet Ending: DUO was destroyed, but DELTA-7 had to be destroyed as well to prevent mankind's extinction, which was reduced to 20% after DUO had the other 80% killed in a war.
  • Demonic Possession: DUO possessed DELTA-7 and turned mankind's defenses against it through the computer.
  • Fun with Acronyms: DUO stands for Dimensional Unibody Offender.
  • Kill All Humans: DUO had a two-stage plan for killing humanity. First it had 80% war against and kill another, then it intends to use Varth's defenses to kill off the survivors.
  • Manipulative Bastard: DUO first used DELTA-7 to make 80% of mankind kill eachother then used that as a pretext to try and kill off the remaining 20%.
  • Names to Run Away from Really Fast: "Dimensional Unibody Offender" seeks the death of all humans on Varth.
  • Not Quite Dead: Just as DUO in the body of DELTA-7 seemed to go down in Stage 29, it gets back up with repairs in a last ditch attempt to kill the heroes during Stage 30.
  • Not-So-Well-Intentioned Extremist: DUO through DELTA-7 declares that all humans need to die for "crimes against the planet". However, since DUO did manipulate mankind into war before ordering for the surviving 20% to be killed, this seems more like an excuse to Kill All Humans for something that was its fault in the first place.
