They Come

Triggore is a Survival Horror Web Game by Lumpy Touch and Francis Coulombe.

The game has you inside a house that is being invaded by a host of white monsters. They'll be coming in through every available entryway, both doors and windows. You're going to need to arm yourself with weapons to fend them off. You'll also need to keep the lights lit to see them coming. So be ready for the long haul.

The game was released in October 9th, 2019. It was released as part of the Ludum Dare 45 game jam, "start with nothing". There are talks of making a fully expanded game.

You can play the browser version or download it here.

Triggore contains examples of:

  • Animalistic Abomination: The cats and spiders are this, but special mention goes to the flies. While the fly enemies seem almost normal at first, they then open up into sharp-toothed split-maws when they attack.
  • Darkness Equals Death: At night, it becomes harder to see due to more limited lighting and the game tends to spawn harder enemies, including a vampire-looking shadow monster.
  • Defeat Equals Explosion: Enemies you kill swell up and explode into Ludicrous Gibs.
  • Endless Game: The game has no objective or ending of any kind; the player kills the monsters until they die.
  • Enter Stage Window: Enemies will come at you through the windows.
  • Handguns: One of the weapons you can wield in the game. It can put down enemies in two shots, and holds six bullets.
  • Have a Nice Death: When the player runs out of health, they are treated to the sight of their bloody, half-eaten skull.
  • Hyperactive Metabolism: You can eat chocolate to regain lost health.
  • Life Meter: On the right side of the HUD is your health, which is represented by ten hearts.
  • One-Word Title: Triggore, obviously.
  • Our Ghouls Are Creepier: The game never specifies what exactly the enemies are, but they cannibalize the player should they die, and are certainly of the weirder variety.
  • Pun-Based Title: Trigger + Gore = Triggore.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Almost all the enemies have red eyes and are looking to kill you, so this is a given.
  • Retraux: Since Lumpy Touch worked on this, of course it's done in 8-bit style with chip-tune music.
  • Shotguns Are Just Better: You can wield a shotgun in the game. One shot can do multiple hits on an enemy, and it holds four bullets.
  • Sniper Rifle: Among the weapons you can use. It can put down enemies in one hit, but can only hold two bullets.
  • White and Red and Eerie All Over: All the enemies outside the shadow monster and the gore monster have this color scheme, which makes them a bit eerie to look at.
  • Wraparound Background: Justified, as the game is set in a small house.
