Harness the power of a raging tornado!
Tornado Outbreak is an obscured action-adventure video game released on September 29, 2009 for the Wii, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. The game follows the story of a young Air Elemental named Zephyr, and his mission to restore Orbs belonging to the anti-matter being known as Omegaton.

With the help of his mentor Nimbus, and their army of Wind Warriors, Zephyr vows to use the destructive power of the tornado in an effort to save the universe by tearing up everything in their path.

This game has the examples of:

  • Area 51: Area 51 makes an appearance in the military themed level called Military Mayhem.
  • Art Shift: The game uses a combination of 2D animated flash cutscenes along with cinematics rendered in-game.
  • Apathetic Citizens: The humans featured in-game just casually wander around the area as if nothing is going on. Humorously, they only seem to care when the player reaches the minimal size to toss and throw them; a size three tornado.
  • Amusement Park: Featured in the sixth level; Carnival Chaos
  • And Your Reward Is Clothes: Upon completing High Roller Blowout, Zephyr is rewarded with a scarf, cape, and wing shaped shoulderpads.
  • Attack Its Weak Point: The last two levels features Zephyr sneaking up and pummeling different areas of Omegaton's body
  • Backtracking: While not required, players can replay previous levels to collect any missing Fire Flyers, earning a higher score, freeing the Stone Stompers, and reuniting the Water Whirls.
  • Boss Battle: Appears at the end of the levels with the exception of Roadside Destruction.
  • Boss-Only Level: The final level: Showdown with Omegaton
  • Button Mashing: Depending on the console during the Totem Battles, the player is required to either rapidly tap A on the Xbox 360 and the X button on PlayStation 3. The Wii version uses motion control as a replacement for the button mashing.
  • Color-Coded Characters: Originally being a Wii exclusive, the tornado colors for both two players are color coded after the colors of the Wii Remote's cursor: Player 1 (Zephyr) is blue, and Player 2 (Wind Warrior) is red.
  • Clothing Damage: As a size two tornado, the player has the ability to strip the clothing on certain humans.
  • Cherry Blossoms: Featured in the Japanese themed level; Coastal Calamity.
  • Everything Breaks: The entire world is the player's playground as they rip up the environment using Zephyr's tornado.
  • Elvis Impersonator: Appearing in the Vegas themed level, these Elvis Impersonators will constantly taunt the player until the player's tornado size is a size three tornado. As soon as the tornado reaches the minimum size to toss humans, they will constantly run around panicking.
  • Evil All Along: Towards the end of the game, the anti-matter being known as Omegaton is revealed to belong to a backwards dimension; a hero in space is a villain on Earth.
  • Hawaiian-Shirted Tourist: Throughout varies levels, there is a wondering tourist wearing an orange Hawaiian shirt taking photographs around different parts of the map.
  • Hedge Maze: In the first zone of Ringling Village, the player must guide and grow the tornado within a hedge maze.
  • Hub Level: Earth, used to navigate and select levels that has been unlocked.
  • Humans Are Morons: The humans don't even bother trying to seek shelter from Zephyr's destructive tornado. Instead, they'll just run around in a panic state.
  • Idle Animation: Both Zephyr and the Wind Warrior have unique idle animations ranging from Zephyr looking around for any witnesses, wiping his forehead, and casually looking around. Idle animations for the Wind Warrior range from adjusting his helmet, to looking around.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: At the beginning of Ringling Village, Zephyr accidently drops the L.O.A.D. STARR, a device used to protect Wind Warriors from the sun's deadly radiation. He eventually manages to repair it.
  • No Animals Were Harmed: The game's credits state that no human or animals were harmed in the making of the game.
  • Pass Through the Rings: Before completing the Totem battles, Zephyr is required to race around the track in a Vortex Race that progressively gets faster.
  • Projectile Pocketing: Anything that the tornado can pick up is instantly thrown either in the air or at building. The latter doesn't cause any form of damage.
  • Rock Monster: Upon starting the level Carnival Chaos, Zephyr encounters a friendly rock elemental called a Stone Stomper
  • Sad Clown: Featured in the level Carnival Chaos.
  • Saving the World: As backwards as it may seem, Zephyr must use the destructive power of the tornado in an effort to save the world.
  • Shockwave Stomp: Upon starting Carnival Chaos, Zephyr will unlock the ability to pounce onto objects. The larger the tornado, the wider range of the Shockwave.
  • Shout-Out: A raccoon, turtle, and hippo was featured in the Carnival Chaos level's concept art. This is a reference to the Cooper Gang from Sucker Punch's Sly Cooper franchise.
  • Speech Bubbles: With the exception of the in-game flythrough cinematics, an animated cloud-shaped speech bubble is used during dialogue.
  • Timed Mission: Levels starting after the third zone in Chicken Con Carnage will have a time limit depending on the level's difficulty.
  • Tornado Move: As an Air Elemental, Zephyr has the ability to transform into a destructive tornado.
  • Trailer Park Tornado Magnet: The level Double Wide Damage involves the player tearing through a trailer park located in the Midwestern region.
  • Unsound Effect: KA-SMASH!note
  • Variable Mix: The music changes depending on the category level for the tornado; the larger the tornado, the more intense the track becomes.
  • Video Game Cruelty Potential: The game allows you to toss and throw humans into the air.

  • Viva Las Vegas!: The level High Roller Blowout has the player smashing up casinos, along with tossing up slot machines in the air!
  • Vortex Barrier: Surrounded by a wall of wind, the player must guide Zephyr towards the totems while avoiding stepping into the sunspots.
  • Weakenedby The Light: Neither Zephyr, Nimbus, nor the army of the mighty Wind Warriors can be near any form of sunlight without them dissipating! Should the player attempt to enter an area bounded by sunlight, the tornado will instantly shrink and the player will be pushed back into the shade.
  • White Flag: Approaching the soldier as a size three tornado will cause him to panic and wave a white flag.
