The Tree of Nerfs 2 is an Idle Game made in The Modding Tree by downvoid and released in 2021. It's a sequel to The Tree of Nerfs and is potentially the first sequel developed in that engine. It has a lot more substance and the layers are far less repetitive, though most of them are inspired by other idlers.

It is playable on galaxy.click and glitch.me.

This game provides examples of:

  • Cap:
    • The Reality Update (9th Dimension) does not go above 100 until you get the Real upgrade.
    • The Superscaled minigame does not go above e3.4853e4556 due to the nature of its growth.
    • Whack-A-Clickable points are hardcapped at 1000.
  • Challenge Run: There are many challenges where you need to reach a certain amount of a resource with a restriction. One layer is dedicated entirely to them.
  • Color-Coded for Your Convenience: Each layer has its own color.
    • Prestige: Brown
    • Super prestige: Indigo
    • Layer: Light blue
    • Aarex: Apricot
    • Distance: Violet
    • Antimatter: Dark green
    • Challenges: Olive
    • Despacit: Forest green
    • Choices: White
    • XYZ: Red
    • Meta: Yellow
    • Superscaled: Green
    • AB: Orange
    • Whack-A-Clickable: Blue
    • Buffs: Gray
  • Completion Meter: The despacit layer shows the percentage to completing the current layer, the current mod, and all despacit mods.
  • Difficulty by Acceleration: The Whack-A-Clickable minigame gets harder as you get more points by making the clickable switch positions faster if you don't click in time. It initially moves within 3 seconds, which changes to 1 second after some time, then it becomes 0.5 seconds.
  • Diminishing Returns for Balance: There are many times when something no longer functions as well above a certain point due to being nerfed. The earliest is when above 1.8e308 points, the amount of them you can get gains an increasingly strong fractional power. It's to make sure you can't get enough points until you collect enough layer points.
  • Export Save: You can press a button to export the 9KB+ save file and another to paste it into a window that pops up.
  • Megamix Game: Downplayed, but a few layers are heavily based on several influential incrementals like Prestige Tree Rewritten, Distance Incremental, and Antimatter Dimensions.
  • Prolonged Video Game Sequel: The original could be beaten in an hour or so. Beating this one is likely to take eight hours at least.
  • Wall of Text: The Pathogens upgrade has at least fourteen effects, forcing a lot of text into a single button to describe how it functions and making it much bigger than the others. Mocked with the XYZ layer's upgrade that multiplies x based on the length of the description.
  • Your Princess Is in Another Castle!: In the despacit layer, you finish all 32 mods and think you're done, but "the upgrade" upgrade makes 999,968 more appear. Then the "What?" upgrade makes 1e100 more appear, and the "???" upgrade makes 1.8e308 appear. Luckily, all the upgrades make getting through the mods far faster.
