The Mooseman is a 2017 Adventure Game developed by an independent Russian studio, Morteshka. Based on the pagan myths of the Finno-Ugric peoples of what is nowadays Perm Krai, the game is notable for incorporating folk music of the Komi into its soundtrack and Perm animal style into its artwork.

You play as the Mooseman — a shaman who can switch between the spirit and human worlds. On your quest you are about to visit three layers of this universe - the Lower World of the dead, the Middle World of the humans and the Upper World of the ancient gods.

The game includes the following tropes:

  • 100% Completion: You can take your time to collect all the Permian bronze casts.
  • Animal Motifs: Most prominently moose, bears and crabs.
  • Creation Myth: The finno-ugric version is recounted in the game.
  • Fiendish Fish: At one point you are menaced by Vakul, a giant pike.
  • Giant Flyer: One of the levels has you controlling Kars, a giant eagle.
  • Small Reference Pools: Averted; finno-ugric mythology is not commonly known even in Russia.
  • The Underworld: A portion of the game is set in the Lower World, where the souls of the dead reside.
