"It's about time. I've been dormant for so many years, and they've neglected us for too long, but now, he has arrived!"
The Friday Night Incident is a mod for Friday Night Funkin' developed by Arthur_(ADJ), SaltedSporks and Saruky_, and a crossover with the Trollge meme, like the older mod The Blueballs Incident. As with the previous mod, The Friday Night Incident takes significant inspiration from both the Trollge and Trollface memes, and goes for a primary focus on drama with a healthy dose of horror thrown in.

Boyfriend is taken by Girlfriend to meet another member of her family, being her Russian godfather/uncle figure, Mr. Trololo! A famous Baritone who was best known for his work during the Soviet era, Mr. Trololo welcomes Boyfriend to sing with him, though something seems a bit off. It turns out that something much darker is hiding just below the surface, and it's something no one could have expected, not even Mr. Trololo himself...Can Boyfriend and Girlfriend defeat this Trollface-looking guy Girlfriend calls her uncle? Or will they get trolled and lose?

Song List

  • Week 1:
  1. Glad (Mr. Trololo)
  2. Prepare (Mr. Trololo)
  3. Evacuate (The Maestro)
  • Week 2
  1. Aurora (Aurora)
  • Freeplay
  1. Rainbow Trololo (Eduard Khil)
  2. Yoinky Sploinky (Trollmongus)
  3. Reminisce (Pibby Mr. Trololo)

This game provides examples of:

  • Adaptational Curves: A rare non-Fanservice example. As part of translating the original's Stylistic Suck, Mr. Trololo and the Maestro have a decently muscular build, as opposed to the stick-figure bodies of their predecessors.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: The classic Trollface Mr. Trololo is based on is a generally rude person that annoys others for the lols. Trololo himself, meanwhile, is an overwhelmingly kind senior citizen who befriends Boyfriend quickly and is treated by Girlfriend like an uncle.
  • Adaptational Wimp: Going by the canon that the Trollge is a reality-bending Eldritch Abomination, this mod's Trollge acting more like a basic Serial Killer seems like this trope. However, it ends up subverted according to Word of God, as Trollge actually has limitless, god-like power that he stores in a Pocket Dimension.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Mr. Trololo has a fondness for referring to Girlfriend as klubnika and roza, Russian for 'strawberry' and 'rose'.
  • The Assimilator: The Maestro takes form by taking over Mr. Trololo's body with black oil, briefly killing him in the process. He manages to revive, but then the transformation takes full effect and the Maestro replaces Trololo entirely.
  • And I Must Scream: Word of God states that Mr. Trololo is fully conscious when the Maestro takes over his body, seeing things through his perspective and Forced to Watch as he terrorizes, and possibly murders, Girlfriend and Boyfriend.
  • Body Horror:
    • Mr. Trololo's possession at the hand of the Maestro starts with him violently and painfully vomiting out black oil before it covers his entire body.
    • Aurora's up pose has it rotate its neck and head upside down.
  • Bolivian Army Ending: Boyfriend and Girlfriend barely manage to escape the Maestro (who’s still actively hunting them and probably not far behind), finding themselves in the middle of the Aurora Woods. Girlfriend desperately calls Daddy Dearest for help, all while the sound of distant footsteps begins getting closer and closer...
  • Botanical Abomination: The Screaming Tree that kills off Aurora is a humongous tree with a human torso and head sticking out of it that states its desire to infect Boyfriend and Girlfriend with spores, turning them into more of itself.
  • Chekhov's Gun: When seeing Mr. Trololo - specifically, how tall he is - Boyfriend drops a bottle of soda he'd brought into the room in shock. Later, the Maestro tripping over this bottle is the reason Boyfriend and Girlfriend are able to escape him.
  • Dude, Not Funny!: In the cutscene before "Aurora", Girlfriend gets on Boyfriend's case for continuing to speak in his signature beeps, getting him to start talking normally for the rest of the week. She gives this reaction a second time after the song, this time for cracking a joke about Aurora's speed as it chases them.
  • Eldritch Abomination: Trollge, as always, is this:
    • The Maestro seems to take form as a black oil-like substance that assimilates Mr. Trololo, forcibly using his body to try and kill Boyfriend and Girlfriend.
    • While Aurora looks somewhat humanoid, its body is gray and covered in cracks, its limbs and neck are unnaturally elongated, and the inside of its mouth is an endless void that consumes Boyfriend's microphone with no issue.
  • Evil Sounds Deep:
    • Once the Maestro is in control, his voice overrides that of Mr. Trololo, sounding even deeper but also with a distinct electronic tone.
    • Aurora's voice is a guttural groan that barely even manages to hit any higher pitch than its base.
  • Harder Than Hard: The "Troll" difficulty, which sets the scroll speed higher and makes the charting intentionally bloated. "Evacuate" in particular is so absurdly difficult that its chart isn't even complete due to the developers not expecting it to be beatable.
  • Gentle Giant: Mr. Trololo is extremely tall, with a height of thirteen feet and ten inches, but he's very friendly and kind towards Boyfriend and Girlfriend. The Maestro, on the other hand, is exactly the same height, but has none of the personality of his predecessor.
  • I Call It "Vera": According to ArthurADJ as seen in this video, the Maestro apparently named his axe Jonathan.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • The Maestro's electronic-sounding voice is made using the Software Automatic Mouth, infamous for its use in most Trollge videos.
    • In the mod's final cutscene, Girlfriend states her and Boyfriend's location as Aurora Woods, the Eldritch Location subject of a particularly popular Trollge Incident.
    • The giant tree that "saves" Boyfriend and Girlfriend from Aurora can be identified as the victim of the "Screaming Tree" Incident, from the way it looks to how it wants to infect the two with its spores.
  • Older Than They Look: Mr. Trololo is 104, but looks in his 40s at most.
  • Sequel Hook:
    • After beating "Evacuate", the story is left on a cliffhanger as Boyfriend and Girlfriend are approached by another Trollge within the Aurora Woods.
    • The Week 2 demo ends on another cliffhanger, this time with the Screaming Tree having killed Aurora to claim Boyfriend and Girlfriend for itself.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Tall, Dark, and Handsome: Mr. Trololo is a rather literal example, as many parts of his body are entirely black. He is, of course, also incredibly tall and looks rather good for his age.
  • Transformation Horror: Mr. Trololo's transformation into the Maestro is nothing short of horrifying, and is presented as extremely painful. He describes it as being like being 'stabbed a dozen times in the chest'.
