"Gotta jet!"

The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius: Jet Fusion is a video game (loosely) based on the episode "Operation: Rescue Jet Fusion" from The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius. It was released for the PlayStation 2, Nintendo Gamecube, and Game Boy Advance by THQ in 2003.

The game begins with Jimmy presenting his book report on his Jet Fusion novel with his latest invention, the Virtual World Reproduction Machine. Unfortunately, the machine backfires and Retroville's reality is altered to look just like the novel, and Professor Calamitous has captured Jet Fusion himself. It's up to Jimmy to traverse the altered Retroville to defeat his transformed friends and defeat Calamitous, in order to save his home.

Both games follow the same plot, but with different alterations. In the console versions, Jimmy has to traverse three different parts to each of the four altered areas and obtain the three golden idols from the game's bosses, which happens to be his transformed friends. The Game Boy Advance version has a slightly altered system where Jimmy must collect three different parts — one from each part of every area — which in turn will unlock a minigame in order to access the boss. Jet is also not captured in this version and provides assistance for Jimmy by updating his maps and location, and presenting new upgrades.

This game provides examples of:

  • Adaptational Badass: In contrast to the console game, which leaved Jet Fusion a Badass in Distress for 90% of the time, the Gameboy Advance port has Jet play a more active role, from giving Jimmy inventions he needs to progress, to fighting alongside Jimmy for the Final Boss.
  • Adaptational Jerkass: In the console version, Jet tries to take credit for Jimmy's work, whereas in the special he wasn't afraid to share credit.
  • Adaptation Deviation: The overall plot of the game greatly deviates from the episode it's based on: from Jimmy turning the world into a Jet Fusion movie, to all the levels being mostly original levels.
  • Adapted Out: Carl is absent in the console versions, with Ms. Fowl taking his place. He does appear in the GBA version, however.
  • Astral Finale: The final battle is set in Calamitous's space station hovering over Earth.
  • Big Bad: Professor Calamatious, who is also the villain of the episode.
  • Canon Foreigner: Coach Levi only appears in this game.
  • Exposition Fairy: Goddard helps Jimmy out with hints for the game.
  • Forced Tutorial: Thanks to Goddard, you get to learn the moves in the game.
  • In Name Only: While it retains most of the major characters and keeps true to the spirit of the source series, the actual plot of the game has almost nothing to do with the episode it's supposedly based on. Rather than being about Jimmy meeting a super spy and living out his fantasy of participating in one of his adventures, the game is about Jimmy accidentally turning the entire world into an adaptation of his Jet Fusion book.
  • Level-Map Display: The game has this so Jimmy can know where he's going.
  • Noodle Incident: At the beginning of the console version, Jimmy had to talk to Coach Levi about last week's episode at the aquarium for growing a turtle.
  • Palette Swap: The "cool bully" enemy in the first level is the exact same model as the regular "bully" enemy (itself based on Butch from the show), only with a green shirt, black hair, and sunglasses.
  • Password Save: The Game Boy Advance port uses an eight-character system, consisting of letters, numbers, and punctuation symbols.
  • Rule of Three:
    • In the console version, there are three different areas for each of the four transformed locations; the last area serves as the boss level. There are also three golden idols corresponding to the first three bosses.
    • In the GBA version, Jimmy has to collect three items from each of the three main locations of each area in order to construct the invention needed to access a minigame the player needs to complete to move on to the boss.
  • Save Point: They are marked by Purple Flurp machines in the console versions and mobile satellite devices in the GBA version.
  • Shout-Out: On occasion, the bully enemies at the school says "Say hello to my little friend."
