Softporn Adventure is an Adventure Game by Chuck Benton released in 1981. It is one of the earliest erotic video games and the only fully text-based adventure published by Sierra. The goal is seducing three different women, while getting into various hijinks in the town of Lost Vagueness. There's a seedy atmosphere and gambling, with an overall 1970s tone, despite the game taking place in 2020.

The game was later remade with graphics as Las Vegas for the FM-7, PC-88, PC-98, and Sharp X1 as Las Vegas, featuring anime graphics and more explicit sex scenes. Then it received a more substantial remake at the hands of Al Lowe with a new world, tone, and graphics as Leisure Suit Larry 1: In the Land of the Lounge Lizards, launching the Leisure Suit Larry game series. The original can be seen as something of a Larry 0.5.

This game provides examples of:

  • 20 Minutes into the Future: The game takes place in the year 2020. The sky's apparently green with plutonium, but disco is still a hit and it otherwise doesn't feel like the world has moved on from the 1970s.
  • 555: Two legible telephone numbers are 555-6969 and 555-0439.
  • Back from the Dead: When you die, you have a chance to leave purgatory through a door and return to the game. Got the disease from the prostitute? Exit it and you can continue no worse for the wear.
  • Bestiality Is Depraved: Taking the pills leads to the protagonist screwing a dog, who kills him with its claws.
  • Betting Mini-Game: You can play the slots or blackjack in the casino to get money which is essential to progress.
  • Broken Record: The adventuring business was too much for a bum and he gives the knife to the protagonist to defend himself, since he may get caught in a program bug like the bum did. The game then flashes a ton of "Like I did!!!" communicates.
  • Character in the Logo: The logo shown on the Apple II disk has five curvaceous women.
  • Groin Attack: Trying to have sex with the waitress leads to you getting kicked in the groin and getting told to wise up.
  • Hot as Hell: The Game Over screen in Las Vegas shows a demonic naked woman who holds a pitchfork and has glowing red eyes, sitting on a fat green demon.
  • Large Ham: The protagonist tends to shout a lot and use exclamation marks in his lines. He also sounds like he's really having the time of his life while dancing.
  • Luck-Based Mission: When you die, you don't get to restore your game, but instead have to pick one of three doors in purgatory. The first leads to Hell and sends you back to the DOS prompt, the second makes you guess again, and the third returns you to the game unscathed. There's no way to know which door is which and they are randomised every time.
  • Male Gaze: Obviously not shown in-game, but it's clear the protagonist is ogling the attributes of women whenever you tell him to look at them.
  • Never Gets Drunk: The protagonist can drink beer or whiskey all he wants, but he'll never get drunk.
  • No Name Given: The protagonist does not have a given name. He is meant to be a puppet, with you being put in his role.
  • Pervert Revenge Mode: Attempting to have sex with the bartender makes him jump over the bar and kill you.
  • Ridiculous Future Inflation: The game takes place in 2020 (almost 40 years after its release) and telling the protagonist to "inflate" makes him exclaim that the prime rate is already 257. Even worse, the record set back in 1996 broke the 1000 mark. This results in beer and whiskey costing 100$ each.
  • Sexy Packaging: The game's cover shows Roberta Williams, Diane Siegel, and Susan Davis naked in a jacuzzi.
  • STD Immunity: Averted. Having unprotected sex with the hooker gives you the dreaded atomic clap, leading to your swift demise.
