Pony Clicker is a fan-game Idle Game based on My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. To cheer up the ponies of Ponyville, the player collects "smiles" which can be spent to buy new ponies, friendships, and events such as concerts and galas, all of which automatically give smiles at an accelerating rate. There isn't much narrative to the game, beyond the flavor text and the humorous "news" items.

This game displays the following tropes:

  • Cargo Ship: In-Universe. One particularly odd news item features this:
Princess Twilight Sparkle dating a peach! The peach has no comment on the matter.
  • Effortless Achievement: The first two achievements are earned for moving the mouse and booping (clicking) a pony once.
  • Fourth-Wall Observer: Pinkie Pie becomes this, not surprising considering the fanon surrounding her:
Pinkie Pie found running around Ponyville, proclaiming "Our lives aren't reality and that we're just a bunch of animated characters on a TV show meant for the entertainment of others!"
  • "Help! Help! Trapped in Title Factory!": One of the news items:
Send help. Trapped in Equestria, being forced to write silly news messages.
  • No Ending: Once you manage to get all the upgrades and achievements, you've done pretty much everything there's to do. You can try to accumulate ever more smiles if you want, but there's nothing beyond that.
  • Shipper on Deck: One of the news involves Twilight Sparkle "shipping Rainbow Dash with everything in the universe."
  • Ship Sinking: In one of the news items:
Lyra and BonBon revealed as "just friends"! Ponies everywhere faint in shock!
  • Shout-Out:
    • One to Story of the Blanks:
Apple Bloom found in shock on the edge of the Everfree Forest; says she visited a village of ponies with no Cutie Marks.
    • A particularly off-color reference to Clerks:
Princess Celestia has eaten at least 37 muffins this year, when reached for comment, Princess Luna responded with ‘In a row?’.
    • One to the infamous "40 cakes" meme from The Super Dictionary:
Discord caught eating 40 muffins in one sitting, that’s as many as four 10’s, and that’s terrible.
  • Villain Decay: Chrysalis appears in one of the news messages, except she's just buying muffins. Also, villains such as Chrysalis and Sombra can be bought like other ponies, and have no problems being friends with others.
  • What Is This Feeling?: Soon after you start gaining smiles, this news item appears:
Ponyville citizens wonder what this strange new sensation is! Scientists call it 'smiling', conspiracy theorists denounce it as a ploy to take over the world.
