Orchard is an Idle Game by Jack Oatley released in 2017. You click on the screen to gain life. Once you have enough of it, you can buy upgrades to grow the tree, add leaves to it, and improve other things for greater production. Birds also spawn which you can click on to get additional life.

It is available on itch.io.

This game provides examples of:

  • Cap: All upgrades have a "MAX" amount where you can't just buy more of them. For leaves, the amount of them is based on how much the tree has grown.
  • No Plot? No Problem!: No plot anywhere in the game or its description.
  • Retraux: This idle game written in Javascript only used two colors and a pixely aesthetic.
  • Schmuck Bait: The last bird upgrade. It's cheap, but it intentionally spawns so many birds that it can cause the game to crash, so it's generally not recommended to buy it until you max everything else out or are satisfied.
  • The Swarm: Maxing out the number of birds causes a ridiculous number of them to spawn and fly around your trees.
