Numina is an RPG Maker game that is currently in development by starlit. The game page describes it as a 4th wall breaking RPG that makes its characters and the world surrounding them aware of you - the player. It puts you in the role of an ancient guardian spirit that speaks to Shawn, and what you say to him influences your relationship to him and others and shapes the events that will unfold.

Tropes that are found in Numina:

  • Big Bad: Aziel is the one pursuing Shawn and his friends mercilessly throughout their journey.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: The game relies on a heavy dose of this, as you communicate with Shawn as a voice inside his head.
  • Cassandra Truth: Nobody believes Shawn when he says he hears voices in his head...at first.
  • Deadpan Snarker: A few choices allows you to be this as Shawn's guardian spirit. One example at the beginning of the game is this choice you can pick:
  • Foreshadowing:
    • In the prologue, all but one of the people's names and genders who are running away were revealed. Why? The one person seems to be the past form of Shawn's guardian spirit, who you get to pick the name and gender of.
    • Masame never appears as a party member who joins the fights. He gets killed by Aziel when the group sneaks into the latter's lair hidden underground.
  • Hearing Voices: This is the way you communicate with Shawn. Other characters find it hard to believe, at first.
  • Hello, [Insert Name Here]: When asked by Shawn about your name, this prompt shows up. You also get to pick the gender.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Masame initially appears dismissive, rude and overcautious but with good reason. He's very concerned about Cassandra's well-being. Then he grows to care for Shawn, Raphael and Sarah as well.
  • Missing Mom: Shawn and Aura's mother is nowhere to be seen in-game. It's stated that she went on to look for a cure for Aura's illness, and she never came back.
